Dominic's POV:

Someone was banging the door frantically when I woke up. The moon's light was penetrating through the window. I rubbed my eyes, as the soft comforter slid off my body.

"What is going on, Rocco?" I asked, as my senses began to come back to me.

"Man, its Lucia. She ran away"

"WHAT?!" Rocco took a step back, a flash of fear passed through his eyes. Just then, Another pair of footsteps resounded in the corridor.

"Dominic." Miguel nodded in acknowledgement. His armpits and face were wet with sweat, like he had been running. "She knocked out the watchman and stole Vincent's car" He said. I could see the amazement behind his eyes.

"My office. 5 minutes" I told them as I took in Vincent's dishevelled appearance. The wooden door creaked loudly from the pressure, as I slammed it shut. Damn! This girl. I ran my hands over my hair. From the corner of my eyes, I noticed Megan getting up.

"What happened, honey?" she asked, still drowsy. I couldn't help but flinch at the word 'honey'. Even in this situation it managed to piss me off but I didn't say anything to her. "Is everything okay?" Even in the middle of the night, Megan looked breathtakingly gorgeous. Ruffled hair, flushed face but Lucia kept nagging me. God! I will tie her up once I find her.

"No, Lu-" I paused "That Falcone girl. She escaped." Megan eyed me for a second before turning around to the night stand. I couldn't see her reaction in the dark. But soon, light filled the room, blinding me. "No, it's alright. You go to sleep, I will take care of this" She nodded but didn't lie back down. I decided to ignore her and darted to my closet.

"So, what have we got?" I asked, trying to control my temper. The study was dead silent. No one, not even Miguel to speak. I was sitting on my desk, elbows propped up, chin resting on my knuckles. Rocco stood by the couch in the, leaning on the arm rest slightly, Rosa was sitting upright, alert, on the said leather couch. Miguel and Vincent sat in front of on the chairs. "Miguel?" I asked when none of them replied.

"Uh.. Yes" he hesitated but soon found his professional control and continued. "The CCTV footage from the gate" he placed the laptop in front of me. There was shuffling around the room and soon Rocco and Vincent were behind my shoulder, watching the tape. Miguel and Vincent, had watched it already, I assumed.

I watched Lucia jump down from the window and sneak up to the watchman post. She had seduced the watchman and hit him.

"Woah! She seduced that old hag?" Rocco chuckled from behind me. "Man! This girl is something else" He commented. I heard Rosa humming in agreement, too. And I couldn't help but agree with them. She didn't care about anything. Jumping from that height, definitely injuring her ankles and seducing to get out. Though angry I couldn't help but get impressed. Falcone blood, sure is cunning and ruthless, they'll at nothing to get what they want. I had  seen it with her brothers but Lucia had looked different, from the first time I had met her, her warm smile, innocent eyes had me fooled . But I guess the apple doesn't fall from the tree.

Then I saw something completely different- she picked up the old man, seated him back on his chair and turned on the radio she hit him with. She caressed his head, muttering something. A prayer! she was praying. She felt guilty. She is so full of surprises.

Lucia then proceeded to open the door and hop into Vincent's car.

I looked up to see both of them smiling in amusement. I raised up an eyebrow. They coughed and averted their gazes. Looking out the window, now, I watched the moon, shinning in its full glory. But I was distracted, for me it was nothing but a shinning piece of rock, my mind was running in a different direction. She had taken on of our cars. What if-

"Vincent, don't you have a GPS in your car." I asked, my eyes lighting in realization.

Vincent hesitated. "It broke last night. I-I was supposed to send it to the mechanics, tomorrow"

A deep silence followed. All of us, deep in thought. A shrill sound filled the room. I flinched. It was Vincent's phone. He picked it up.

"Hel-" He froze midway his sentence. Suddenly, a smile crept on his face. He removed the phone from his ear and put it on speaker. And muted it.

" Hey , Susan. I-I know its too late to be calling you but I am in trouble"  Lucia's frantic voice filled our ears. "I forgot, my phone is connected to my car. Any calls from the car, comes straight to it" Vincent grinned. And for the first time this night, I smiled too, as relief washed over me.

"What happened Luce. Is your grandma okay?"

"Yes-Yes. She is alright. I need a favor Susan"

"Anything, Lucia"

"Look, you have to just trust me on this alright. I need you to take in grandma with you. Please keep her safe."

"Wha-What? Are you alright, Lucia?"

"No. I am not but you don't have to worry about me alright?"

"You work in with the law enforcement, Lucia. You-You can come here if you need help-"

"NO. NO. No cops, Susan. You can't get into this. I-I can handle this. Please. Just trust me. Cops will not do"

"Okay, I got your back, Luce. Just promise me, you are going to take care of yourself"

"One more thing. How do you take out  a GPS from a car. I am sure this thing is bugged."

"What? you work with the police. You ought to know that, Luce. It's the little red chip, under the steering wheel."

"I am a forensics scientist. How am I even supposed to know all of this cop stuff."  there was a shuffling sound. "No, chip"

"Okay. Where are you going?"

"I'm going to dump this car somewhere and take a bus to Florida" she finished and soon after the call ended.

" Rosa. Rocco. You know what to do" I said. Forensic scientist?

"Uh- Dominic I think I should go with Rosa." It was Vincent, who had spoken. I looked at him, he looked away. "Rocco will mess it up"

"Fine." Rocco was grinning at his big brother. I looked at Rosa, she was indifferent. Her black curls flowed wildly, as wildly as her spirit. Her face was stern, highlighting her already sharp features. She looked like a true soldier. Always ready for a fight. Vincent on the other hand, prided himself on his intelligence, though he too was a hell of a fighter.

Rosa had taken out her knives. "I will make sure she never thinks of running away" She spoke out at last, her voice seemed almost eager for the fight which everyone in the room was sure Lucia would put up. Vincent got up and nodded at me. I nodded too and they were gone.

"Damn! Forensic scientist in the police department?" Rocco exclaimed as he poured us whiskey from the heavy glass bottle. I swirled my glass and watched the liquid ripple with waves. Who would have thought, a mafia princess, going after the polar opposite of what her brothers stood for. Trying so hard to get away

Its a pity she is dragged into all this.

Guess, nobody can run away from their roots. It is bound to catch with you. Sooner or later.
