Yeosang's pov

I rushed to follow the masked male out of my party. He ran to a balcony, and stood atop the railing. I gasped and quickly grabbed the male around his waist and pulled him back down to the floor with me. He turned around and began screaming at me.

"Let me go- let me jump! I don't belong here! I'm not good enough," he cried. His voice was familiar but I couldn't place it.

"Why should I let you jump? You'd be throwing your entire life away!" I exclaimed, shutting the male up. He lifted his mask to wipe his tears that fell. I gasped and removed my mask as well.

"Sannie?" I asked, my voice cracking as I realized my childhood best friend just tried to jump from two stories up. The sweet, always happy child grew into an always depressed adult.

"Sangie?" San asked. I nodded my head and wrapped my arms around his shoulders. San pulled away first and looked down at me.

"What are you doing here? I haven't seen you since we were twelve!" San exclaimed. I lowered my head.

"So you know how this party is for the prince to find a king? That prince might be me..." I mumbled, shushing San before he could shout.

"Sangie, why didn't you tell me you're a prince?" San asked softly. I sighed and gently caressed his cheek.

"I didn't want you to treat me any differently. Then my parents wanted me to only hang out with other royals in case I found any of them likable to be my bride. Now I finally told them I'm gay so they held a masquerade to help me find a groom," I explained. San nodded his head.

"So does this mean I stand a chance now?" San asked shyly. I looked at him confused.

"What do you mean, Sannie?" I asked. He smiled sheepishly at me and scratched the back of his neck.

"I've had a crush on you since we were ten. I thought it would go away since you left me, but it honestly didn't," San shyly spoke. I smiled softly and hugged him.

"San, I have to meet with everyone I can first before I can give you my honest response. I only have a few more hours left before this party ends. Unless you want to stay down here and party, you can head up to my room. It's on the fifth floor, just ask a maid and say 'Prince Yeosang sent me up,' since only the people inside the castle know me by name. That will grant you ability to go anywhere in the castle, but please just go to my room," I asked. I heard footsteps behind me and noticed Hongjoong.

"You're a prince?" He asked incredulously. Another male was behind him, but I didn't know who he was.
