"Who the hell is that!" Emma shrieks, more like what the hell is that.
I slam on my brakes and pull in reverse, swinging the stirring wheel to turn the car around. I stomp the gas pedal hard and surge us away from the creature. Speeding down the dirt road Emma and I both shudder at the roar of the beast behind us. Emma begins to cry hysterically.
" Faster! I don't want to die tonight!" I don't understand her reaction until I look in the rearview mirror. The creature, human as he may appear, keeps up with the pace of my vehicle, which is booked well past any running speed. I look over to Emma with wide eyes to see her face matches mine in terror, her lovely makeup now smeared from tears. My hands grip the steering wheel tighter as I push down on the gas harder. My body shakes in rhythm with my racing heart, and no matter how hard I grip, I feel myself panic. My shaky hands cause the car to swerve back and forth on the patchy road. I return my eyes to the road behind us to see the creature is no longer there.
"Emma, I think it went away, do you see it anywhere?"
She looks around expectantly, and sighs a breath of relief,
"No, I think it's gone."
Regardless, I continue to speed down the dirt road, wanting to leave this dark forest far behind me and never look back.
"MARIN WATCH OUT"
In front of us, the creature stares on, a sickening grin on its sharp face. I pull the steering wheel hard, hoping to swerve around the monster. Instead, the wheels squeal, the car thrusts into the air, and we flip over and over and over.
The last thing I hear is Emma's bloody screaming, then darkness consumes my visions and the world goes silent.

Walking to school, I try to keep my head down to stray away from any attention that I might bring. I don't want them to find me. The bruises that accompany my stomach are evidence that I am not liked by the other 7th graders. If my mothers ever found out, it would break their hearts; They can never know.
"Hey! Our bitch is here" They've found me.
The group of overgrown imps circles around me, and I cower away, hoping this time they'd go easy on me.
"Aww I think she's going to cry, what's wrong did your lesbos tell you you're adopted" One of them taunts. I just want to be left alone, can't they see that?
"Why don't you tell your dad about it? Oh, wait!"
Every one of them laughs cruelly.
"No one wanted you, Marin, that's why they left you with your whore mothers. We don't want you here either." A sadistic girl whispers in my ear. They go along with her because she is beautiful. I will never understand it because I can see clearly, what she has in beauty she lacks in kindness.
"Okay, let's get this out of the way I don't want to miss History," She carelessly says, as if torturing me is just another errand for her to run. A large boy raises his chubby fists toward my face. Before he can take a swing my hero comes running,
"HEY WHAT THE FUCK!" Emma pushes the chubby boy aggressively. The crowd of evil children disperses as they run from the short, dark-haired girl as if she was fire itself. They only fear Emma because her father happens to be a teacher one word from him to the principle they're toast.
"Marin? You're letting them do this to you again?" Emma looks at me disappointed. I turn my head toward the asphalt below me, feeling ashamed at my cowardice.
"I just feel so helpless and scared when they circle me like that," My glowering elicits no pity from my spit-fire best friend.
"Have some self-respect! No one is going to respect you if you don't stand up for yourself, be brave Marin!"
Be brave Marin.
Be brave Marin.
Be brave Marin.

Pain. I feel pain radiating in my skull and my limbs are difficult to move. I feel softness below me and wherever I am is still and silent. I am most certainly not in my car. Opening my eyes I take in the scene around me. The room is thoroughly decorated with antiquated furniture, intricate art, and fancy trinkets adorning shelves. The bed I am on is covered with a red and black canopy and the blankets are silk and velvet of the same color variation. To my right is a large gothic window showcasing a snowy scene outside.
Toto, we're not in Florida anymore.
I stand on shaky legs, noticing my bloody clothes were replaced with a silky white nightgown. From the room to my clothes everything looks of a different era. When I realize Emma is not with me, I set out toward the door to find her and get the hell out of here. I hesitantly reach out to the ancient door handle,
Be brave Marin, Emma needs you.
I silently open the door and cautiously look in both directions of the long hallway. Taking a right, I attempt to open the first door I see, only to find that it is locked! Continuing, I open the next door, which is also locked. Then the third door: locked. The fourth door: locked. I panic and run aimlessly down the hallway, trying to pry open every door I see. When I almost give up, I see at the end of the hallway, is an opened double door leading to a large room. Carefully, I step towards it, afraid of what may lie on the other side. As I approach the entrance, I see a small group of people in what appears to be a ballroom. They are looking in my direction as if waiting expectantly for something to happen. Are they waiting for me?
Seeing no other way, I step through the entrance and move closer to the group. The ballroom is the most extravagant place I have ever seen. Exotic plants grow around tall columns, the columns reach up to the stained glass ceiling that depicts a beautiful night sky. The ceiling looks to be several stories above the ground floor. The floor is a shiny checkered tile, the walls are intricate stone. Arched Gothic windows, twice the size of what was in the bedroom, are accompanied by golden curtains.
Moving my eyes from the lavish ballroom I see in front of me are the most beautiful people. Lush hair, sharp features, tall frames, and yet, only after I admire their qualities do I look at their monstrous eyes.
Red glowing eyes.
A/N: Bruh they deadass forgot about Lucas :(
