Siyeon
"Yes, there is, actually." I say as an idea suddenly pops up in my mind.
"And that is?" she asks and I think for a moment before I answer.
"The less you know the better." I say.
"Just trust me alright. I will take care of it." I say as I grab my phone and scroll through my contacts until I find the one I am looking for and I immediately call the number.
The phone rings a few times and with everytime it does I get more and more anxious that he won't pick up.
"Well, well, well, look who's calling me now." I then hear from the other side of the line.
"Jae?" I say.
"The one and only." he says.
"Jae listen, I need your help, now. There's a girl with a shot wound I can't treat and I can't take her to a hospital but if I don't do something she will die." I explain quickly.
"So you want me to treat the wound?" he asks.
"Yes." I say.
"Where are you right now?" he then asks.
"In a motel in Busan. I'll text you the details, please hurry." I say.
"I will be there as fast as I can but seen the fact that I am in Seoul right now it might take a while." he says.
"I don't care, just hurry." I say.
"Alright, I will." he says.
"Good. I'll see you soon then." I say before I hang up the phone."Who was that?" Bora asks as I text Jae our exact location and some other information about the situation.
"Someone." I answer.
"A friend?" she asks.
"You could say that." I say.
"Is he a doctor?" she asks.
"Among other things, yeah." I say.
"And he can help me?" she asks.
"Yes, he can." I say.
"And he won't tell the police or whatsoever?" she asks.
"Oh no, he's not a snitch. Besides, it ain't like he's innocent. The only way he'll ever be entering a police station is in handcuffs." I say jokingly.
"And you are sure that he can help me?" she asks a bit worried now.
"Yes, he can, I promise. I wouldn't have called him if I didn't think he could help." I say.
"Alright then, I trust you." she says.
"Good. Now, since he is in Seoul it could take a few hours before he gets here." I say.
"So, what do we do in the meantime?" she asks.
"You, stay alive. I will busy myself with nervously pacing around the room, worried about your well being." I answer.
"Don't. Pacing around and worrying won't magically heal me. Just try to relax." she says.
"Easier said than done. How would you feel if a person you care for is dying because you refused to listen to her and just abandoned her and left her on her own devices?" I say.
"Do you feel guilty for what happened to me?" she asks.
"Maybe." I answer, looking down.
"It's not your fault Siyeon. It's the jerk who shot me who caused this." she says.
"But if I had listened, if I hadn't thrown you out, this wouldn't have happened." I say.
"Maybe. But telling yourself 'if I did this' and 'if I did that' isn't going to undo it. It happened and no matter how much you blame yourself for it, it won't undo anything. So stop it." she says.
"I know. But that doesn't make me any less guilty. So until you are safe, I will not be able to stop blaming myself." I say.
"I suggest you save me then." she says with a small smile causing me to chuckle.
"I will. I won't let you die." I say now looking her in the eye.
"Good." she says."I'm curious tho. What happened?" I ask as I place a chair next to the bed and sit down on it.
"Well, the night after you kicked me out I was walking on the streets trying to find shelter when suddenly a few guys attacked me. They tried to rob me but I told them I didn't have anything, but they didn't believe that so they punched me a few times to try to get me to give them anything but I really had nothing. Once they realised that, they shot me and left. I got up and knew I had to find you because I knew I'd die if I didn't. I went into every motel I could find asking if a girl by the name of Lee Siyeon had checked in and after a few no's I finally got a yes here. They told me what room you were in and now here I am." she explains.
"Yeah, here you are." I say.
"I was so happy when I found you. I was so scared." she says softly.
"Yeah, thank god you did. And I'm sorry, for not giving you a chance to explain." I apologize.
"It's okay. I understand." she says.
"About that tho, you don't have to tell me if you really don't want to but, what happened? Between you and him? I mean, I kinda know since you said some stuff but you were crying and kind of rambling so." I say.
"Well, ehm, it started when I got home. He was sitting on the couch and when he heard me come in he immediately asked me where I had been in a tone I recognized all too well. I told him I was out with my friend, Minji, because I was. He asked me if I was with just Minji or if there was someone else as well. He is, was, quite paranoia and well, crazy. He always wanted to know exactly where I was, with who I was and what I was doing. Anyways, I told him I was with Minji and her boyfriend and at that I could see his eyes grow darker, he was mad. He asked me if I had forgotten about what he said to me when it came to me spending time with other guys. I told him it was Minji's boyfriend and that we are just friends and that he is with Minji so that there is nothing for him to worry about but that didn't make him any less angry. If anything it just made him angrier. We argued for a bit about how he didn't want me to spend time with other guys and when he told me that I couldn't hang out with Minji anymore because he didn't trust her boyfriend I just snapped. I raised my voice at him and told him it was insane that he was restricting me to hang out with my best friend, my only friend, since he had already scared all my other friends off, literally. Every friend I had except for Minji ended the friendship because I wouldn't break up with him and because he was insane and scary. Little did they know, breaking up with him was basically a suicide mission. Anyways, I got mad and told him he was going too far. That he had already taken away so many friends and that I wouldn't accept him taking away Minji from me. I told him that he was crazy. That if he really loved me he wouldn't use me as a personal punchbag whenever he wanted to and wouldn't treat me like a slave and that he would trust me. And then he hit me. I told him he was insane, and he hit me again. He was so angry. I didn't think I had ever seen him that angry. It scared me and something inside of me told me it was run or die. That he was gonna kill me. Especially since I knew exactly what he was capable off and I have had some almost death experiences and death threats from him. I kicked him in the nuts and ran to the kitchen where I grabbed a knife. I pointed it at him and told him that if he would get any closer to me I would hurt him. He just laughed and said I could never do anything like that. That I was too weak. And so he launched himself at me, ready to beat me to pulp, and I froze. I was still holding the knife pointed at him, and so he just walked right onto it. He must have thought I would put down the knife if he came into my direction, and I would have, if I weren't frozen in fear. He basically stabbed himself. He stepped back and it didn't take long for him to fall to the ground. I still stood there completely frozen and when realization hit me, I panicked and ran. And you know how the story goes after that." she explains while I listen intently. I then notice a tear rolling down her cheek and I remove it softly with my thumb."Wanna know something?" I ask.
"What?" she asks.
"He deserved it." I say.
"You think so?" she asks.
"Yeah, he made your life a living hell. No one has the right to make another person's life a living hell. So those who still have the audacity to take that right upon themselves, deserve to get punished. Blood must have blood." I say.
"Blood must have blood. That sounds so violent. Where did you get that phrase from?" she asks.
"Just, heard it somewhere." I lie.A short silence follows in which I just stare at her, taking my time to really take in all her features.
'Even with a black eye and a bleeding lip she still looks pretty.' I say to myself in my head and a small smile creeps it's way onto my face at the thought.
"Stop staring at me. It's creepy. Especially with a smile like that." she says jokingly and at that I look down.
"Sorry." I say.
"It's okay. When will that doctor of yours get here?" she asks.
"I don't know. I called him an hour ago so it could take an hour more if not longer." I say.
"What do we do until then?" she asks.
"Maybe you should sleep a little. You must be tired." I suggest.
"I don't know. Will you stare at me creepily when I'm asleep?" she asks jokingly causing me to chuckle.
"Probably." I joke back.
"Oh damn, should I be scared now?" she asks.
"Of me? Never." I answer.
"Alright then. Just, know that I'm an ugly sleeper." she says with a playful wink.
"Like hell you are." I mumble to myself.
"What's that?" she asks.
"Nothing, just, get some sleep." I say.
"I will. Wake me up when he's here alright." she says and at that I nod.I then watch as she slowly falls asleep.
'Ugly sleeper huh? More like sleeping beauty if you ask me.'
