All three alarm clocks went off at 5 am that morning. And all three pairs of eyes flew open. They all jumped out of bed, brushed their teeth, and took their bags downstairs for breakfast.
"Um, April." Asked May. "Where are we going?" Her older sister sipped on her cup of coffee, and thought. "The map" she said, snapping her fingers. "The one that Gran hid in her trunk before she was taken by , well, whomever."
May nodded and ran upstairs, appearing again with an old looking rolled piece of paper.
She unrolled it and June and April looked at the map over her shoulders. "Perfect!" Said May. "It's the map of Fantasia, wherever that is." "It must be where his/her Castle is" said June. "And where our family is too" added April. She rolled up the map and tucked it into backpack.
All three girls had tied their hair in ponytails or braided them, and were wearing tank tops, shorts, and boots. They took hats with them, just in case.
June locked the door, and gave the key to April. "Ok," she said. "Hold my hands. We're gonna teleport. If we all focus on our own magic, I'm sure we can." So they did. There was a whooshing sound, and they found themselves on a cliff overlooking a dark, gloomy castle. "We're definitely not in Kansas anymore" said April, looking around. "Look! The sign. It says ' Welcome to Fantasia ' so we must be in the right place."
She took the map out of her bag and spread it out on the rocky ground. "It says that to get to the Black Queen's castle, we have to go down this cliff, through the Salt Desert, across Orange Lake, over the Twin Hills, through Black Fruit Forest, and across Mucky Swamp to get there " read May. "Yikes. This is one long journey." As May and April started to roll up the map again, June called, "Wait!"
"Look. Here's the White King's castle. Emma didn't mention that. How do we know which way to go?" "Well, we don't know what Emma said. It was all muffled. And plus, the White King's castle is all shiny and new, and we can hear screams from Vindia Black's castle, like someone being tortured. She must be the one." Explained May. "She's right" said April. "Let's go!"
The trio made their way down the cliff, stumbling over little pieces of rock on the way. "OK" said June, when they had finally made their way down. "To the Salt Desert. Where is that?" April looked at the map and said, "Left and straight on till we see an oasis. We should, according to this, jump into the oasis." The group took the left and journeyed on.
