The girls reached the oasis at high noon, and the sun was blazing now. "Take out your hats guys" instructed April. Her sisters did so, and they felt better. "Let's sit down in the shade of that palm tree" suggested May. They all agreed, and sat down. June took out their water bottles and handed them out. The emptied the bottles and put them back in June's bag.
May got up and walked over to the oasis. She dipped her fingers in, and quickly drew them back. "The water is so hot! It's supposed to be cold!" She cried over her shoulder. At this, April and June ran over to her. " Well, we've gotta jump in anyway" said June. And she dove headfirst into the water. "June!" Her sisters cried, and dove in after her. They expected to see clear blue water, but instead, they fell flat onto sand.
"Ow" said April slowly. She coughed, as the sand had gone in through her nostrils. They were covered in a big cloud of dust.
As it cleared, they saw June standing in front of them. Her clothes were covered in dust, and so was her hair. "Yeah, diving probably wasn't the best idea" she said, helping May up. "Ya think?" Asked May, brushing as much dust possible off her shorts. "I take it that we're in the Salt Desert?" Said April. June nodded. "Looks like it. But nothing here is very salty, is it?"
The trio looked at the map again. "We have to go straight on, until we see pyramids" said May. "Let's get going." April, May, and June began their walk. They saw many palm trees, cactuses, and different birds too. Suddenly, they felt a crunch under their feet. And they saw that the fine sand was now turning into salt! "So now we're in the Salt Desert" said May. "It's literally salt!" Cried June. She picked up a handful of it. "It looks like real salt to me" she said. June poured the salt back onto the ground and they made their way. It felt like they had been walking for hours and hours until June said, "Look! It's pyramids! Thank God!" She half ran half skipped over to the pyramids. She held herself back from hugging it in joy. "Oh how glad we are to see you!" Exclaimed April, catching up
with June, May behind her. "It's getting dark" said the latter, looking up into the sky. "We're gonna have to stay here for the night. Get out your blankets." April and June looked at her and just blinked. "You didn't bring them!?" Exclaimed May. "Well I did. Enough for all of us. Here," she said, handing out soft blankets to everyone. "Two for each. One to lie down on and one to cover yourself with." They thanked her and all of them spread out a blanket on the salt. They covered themselves with the other after lying down. "Goodnight" they all whispered. And soundly they slept that night.
The next morning, the sun was shining very brightly, causing the girls to wake up earlier than they'd have liked. May folded their blankets and put them back, whilst June and April were looking at the map. "Which way next?" Asked May, joining them. "And remember, we have to found the Earth element guardian."
"Yes, I haven't forgotten" said April. "I think we'll find her/him in the Black Fruit Forest. But first, we need to cross Orange Lake. And that, is through another oasis, right over there." May and June followed their sisters fingers, and saw another oasis.
"Well what are we waiting for? Let's go! And, no diving!" Cried June and she shot off. May and April gathered up their things and ran off after June, who had already jumped in.
They jumped in after her, and fell splat into a lake. "We really should've dived!" Thought April.
