𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝐏.𝐎.𝐕

The weekend finally arrived, Mrs. Jang [ Han ] decided to take the kids to the park. Jisung happily ran ahead of the rest dressed in slightly oversized stripped shirt and black jeans. He proudly held a bright red ball over his head.

The twins wore matching outfits [ courtesy of Mrs. Hong [ Lee ] ], black overalls with a shirtsleeved white shirt underneath and a black bucket hat.

❝ Lee Know hyung! Minho hyung! Let's play over there! ❞ Jisung ran towards an open field, in between the playground and basketball courts. Lee Know ran after him however Minho stayed behind with Mrs. Jang [ Han ].

❝ I something wrong Minho? ❞ Minho shook his head.

❝ Just. . . I just want to walk around. ❞ Mrs. Jang [ Han ] looked over at Lee Know and Jisung, who were happily kick the ball back and forth.

❝ Lee Know! Jisung! Minho and I are going to go get ice cream! We'll bring you guys some so don't go anywhere! ❞

❝ Okay! ❞ Mrs. Jang [ Han ] smiled at Minho.

❝ Come on. ❞ Minho followed her. They walked along the path, Lee Know's and Jisung's figures getting smaller the farther they go.

❝ Lee Know hyung I bet you can't stop this! ❞ Jisung kicked the ball as hard as he could. Lee Know grinned and waited for the ball to get closer before try to stop it with the side of his foot.

Unfortunately he underestimated the amount of force Jisung used and turned his foot a little too late sending the ball flying to the left.

Both, Lee Know and Jisung, ran after the ball. Lee Know got to the ball first and picked it up.

❝ I got it! I got the ball. . . ❞ He looked up to see Jisung standing beside him. However Jisung was focused on something else. Lee Know looked forward and noticed they were standing right at the edge of one of the basketball courts.

They watched as the ball flew across the air. It approached the hoop at a rapid pace but was stopped by a pair of hands reaching out and grabbing it. This time the ball traveled across the court towards the other hoop.

❝ Wow. . . ❞ Lee Know watched as the older boys all ran towards the ball. He watched as the ball was past from player to player and how each time it seemed one team was going to score the other team intervened.

❝ What's this game called? ❞ Jisung asked Lee Know.

❝ I don't─ ❞

❝ Basketball. And it's a sport. ❞ Lee Know and Jisung turned their attention to the boy [ Lee Know's age ] sitting on the bench beside them.

❝ Basketball? ❞ The boy nodded. Jisung smiled widely.

❝ It's so cool! Lee Know hyung isn't basketball cool! Anyone who can play it is super cool and awesome! ❞

❝ But aren't I already cool and awesome? ❞ Jisung smiled.

❝ Of course but you'll be even cooler and more awesome if you can play. ❞ The boy laughed.

❝ I don't think your Hyung can play if he doesn't even know the name of the sport. ❞ Lee Know blankly stared at the boy.

❝ Can you play? ❞ The boy hummed.

❝ Not as good as my older brother but probably better than you. ❞ Lee Know raised a brow.

❝ Are you challenging me? ❞ The boy shrugged.

❝ Maybe. . . maybe not. I'm Choi Hyunjun. ❞ The boy extended his hand towards Lee Know.

❝ Lee Know. ❞ Lee Know took Hyunjun's hand.

❝ Lee Know? That's a pretty cool name. ❞ Lee Know smiled.

❝ Thanks. What school do you go to? ❞

❝ Kyodong. ❞

❝ Daehyun. ❞ Hyunjun smiled.

❝ So we're rivals. ❞ Lee Know hummed.

❝ Looks to be. ❞

❝ Well in secondary I'll be joining by school's basketball team. It's safe to say we won't go to the same secondary school so if we want to officially be rivals then let's seal it with basketball. ❞

❝ Sounds good to me, but don't feel too bad when I beat you. ❞ Hyunjun laughed.

❝ Right, I might die before that day comes. ❞ Lee Know chuckled. Jisung listened to their conversation, confused on some of what they are saying.

❝ Lee Know! Jisung! ❞ Jisung looked over towards the path to see his mother and Minho standing there with the ice creams.

❝ Lee Know hyung come on! ❞ Jisung took off running. Lee Know waved at Hyunjun as he ran after Jisung. Hyunjin smiled at the pair before turning back to focus on the basketball game.

❝ Who was that? ❞ Minho asked as he handed Lee Know his ice cream.

❝ A kid from the other school. He's my rival now. In secondary school we are both going to join our school's basketball team and then we'll officially be rivals. ❞ Minho hummed.

❝ Cool. . . ❞

❝ Aren't you going to ask what basketball is? ❞ Minho shook his head.

❝ I've read a basic rule book and guide about it. It doesn't really seem all that interesting to me. ❞

❝ But─ ❞

❝ You guys Jisung wants to go to the pond to see the ducks, is that okay? ❞

❝ Yeah! ❞ Lee Know exclaimed and Minho nodded. Jisung cheered and ran in the direction of the pond.

They spent the rest of their afternoon there.

Minho clipped his hair up [ basically he have himself apple hair ] in order to prevent it from getting in the way of washing his teeth.  As he walked to the bathroom he could hear Lee Know talk to his mother in their parents room.

❝ I want to play basketball. ❞

❝ Basketball? ❞

❝ Yes. In secondary school.❞

❝ Okay. But promise me this won't get in the way of your studies. ❞

❝ I promise! ❞

❝ Okay now get going to bed. ❞ Lee Know walked out of the room and closed the door. He looked at Minho, who was just standing in the hallway with his hair up.

❝ You're really going to play basketball? ❞ Lee Know nodded.

❝ And you'll help me practice. ❞ Minho scoffed.

❝ Jisung said that anyone who can play is cool and awesome in his eyes~ ❞

❝ When do we start. ❞ Lee Know chuckled.

❝ Secondary school. ❞

❝ Three years? ❞ Lee Know nodded.

❝ That won't do. We have to start now in order to have your skills be at least decent when we enter secondary school so you don't make a fool of yourself. ❞ Lee Know thought back to his conversation with Hyunjun.

Hyunjun obviously had the advantage, especially when he had an older sibling who played the sport, while Lee Know's older sibling is Minho [ older by two minutes ].

❝ You're right! We start tomorrow! ❞

❝ We don't even have a basketball. . . ❞

❝ In two days! We prepare tomorrow! ❞ Lee Know went to their shared room. Minho sighed yet a smile spread across his face.

❝ What would I do without you. ❞
