LUKE’S POV

“It’s so cold,” Maeve shivered, pulling the doona tighter around herself.

Everyone else had either fallen asleep or they were having their own whispered conversations amongst themselves. Christian and Georgia were sitting up in the corner of their shared bed, the blankets pulled up on top of them, laughing about something they’d been saying.

“Come here,” I pulled her closer, offering to warm her up a little. She crawled over so she was lying with her head against my chest I wrapped my arms around her under the doona. “Better?”

“Mhm,” she murmured. “Thanks.”

“My pleasure,” I smiled down at her. “Go to sleep, it’s getting late.”

“Easier said than done,” she sighed. “I hate storms, I can never sleep through them.”

“Want to keep talking, distract yourself?” I suggested and she nodded. “Okay, well, how old are you?”

“17,” she answered. “You?”

“18,” I replied. “So Annie told us you’ve got a decent fanbase, how’d you manage that?”

“Youtube mostly,” she said thoughtfully. “We uploaded a few covers and Logan helped us film some pretty cool music videos and it kind of picked up from there.”

“Awesome,” I said, impressed. “So have you always wanted to be a singer?”

“Actually no, far from it,” she said with a little laugh. “When we were younger, I never sang. Taylah was really into it, so I usually just played an instrument behind her and kept quiet. I didn’t even really speak all that much. Even when we were just mucking around, I’d leave it to them. There were people I knew that had never even heard me speak.”

“And then?” I prompted.

“The three of us had this music class,” she explained. “It was like advanced music for mixed year levels so we were all together. We had this songwriting project, so the three of us wrote a duet for Tay and Georgia to sing and I was going to play the guitar. But on the day we were meant to perform, Georgia showed up sick with literally no voice. It was either perform or fail so they pushed me up in front of the class, shitting myself, and made me sing.”

“And you never looked back?” I grinned. “But what stopped you that entire time?”

“I never thought I was any good,” she shrugged and I looked at her like she was crazy. “What?”

“Well, you know,” I said awkwardly. “You’re kind of amazing and all.” She blushed and laughed to cover it.

“Um thanks,” she said, looking up at me. “You’re not too shabby yourself. So you guys really don’t have girlfriends, any of you?”

“We really don’t,” I shook my head. “Surprised?” She shrugged and snuggled down further into the doona, turning onto her side so she was curled up against me, her eyes fluttering shut.

I found myself following her lead, too tired to stay awake much longer. It was definitely warmer being so close together, the whole body heat thing.

“Rise and shine children!” An overly chipper woke me up the next morning. I groaned and shielded my eyes from the sudden sunlight as the curtains were yanked open.

“Well well well,” Logan was standing in the doorway, a smirk on his face. “Isn’t this a surprise? Perfectly scandalous.”

“Oh shut up Logan,” Maeve threw a pillow at him, sitting up and rubbing her eyes beside me. Everyone else around the room was doing the same.

“Up and at em kiddies,” Annie clapped her hands. “We’re heading home a day early.”

“Why?” Christian asked, sounding slightly disappointed.

“We’ve booked a small gig at a fair for tomorrow,” Logan explained excitedly. “So we think you should all get a decent night’s sleep in your own beds,” he looked pointedly to where we were all sharing and we moved self consciously apart.

We dragged ourselves up out of bed and started getting our stuff together, moving around each other tiredly. Once all our stuff was packed away and we’d returned to room to a semi normal state, we took all our bags downstairs and out to the cars.

“Say your goodbyes ladies,” Logan said as he passed. “We’re leaving in ten.” They turned to us only slightly awkwardly.

“Well, bye then,” Taylah said and the others nodded. Mitchel stepped forward and hugged them and we all followed his lead.

“It’s definitely been fun,” Tyrone laughed, readjusting his bag up onto his shoulder.

“You can say that again,” Georgia agreed with a grin. “Guess we’ll see you guys tomorrow then?” We all nodded, did final goodbyes and moved off to our own cars.

Luckily, Annie had a seven seater, so we could all fit in comfortably. Tyrone and I took the back, Mitchel and Christian the middle and Brock was up front with Annie. I stretched out and pulled out my phone.

I was flicking through my photos, looking at all the ones we’d taken over the week. There were numerous funny selfies of the girls, and the boys for that matter. I picked a nice one we’d taken of all of us lying on top of each other on the couch and uploaded it to twitter.

@Howelly123 Great week hanging out with our new friends from @Hipster_Official :) twitpic.com/4nH4v88G23n

I scrolled through my feed, seeing what everyone else was up to. A couple of tweets interested me.

@Hipster_Official Anyone who’s free tomorrow, come down and see us and @WATOFFICIALBAND down at Birrarung Marr twitpic.com/3hsb54hB9j

Attached was a flier for a small city festival, sure enough, we were advertised to be performing, as well as the girls. Well, looks like fun. Annie must have been on our twitter as well, because we’d tweeted about it too.

@WATOFFICIALBAND First chance to see WAT and @Hipster_Official in action tomorrow at Birrarung Marr at 1:30, RT if we’ll see you there :)

Later that night after we’d got home, we were all relaxing, going over a couple of songs. Mitchel was on his laptop scrolling through twitter.

“Guys, guys look!” he said suddenly, making us jump. We all crowded around the screen to see what he was talking about as a twitcam loaded. Then there were three very familiar faces on the screen. It looked like they were sitting on someone’s bed, with Taylah and Georgia lying on their stomachs in front of the computer and Maeve sitting behind them.

“Yep for all of you asking we did spend the week with What About Tonight,” Georgia was saying.

“What are they like?” Taylah read of the screen. “They were great, it was really good fun. Yes, they are pretty talented.”

“This should be interesting,” Christian grinned, flopping down to sit beside Mitchel on the floor. “Put it wide screen!”
