"Can I tell you a secret?" Klaus asks you the next morning.

"Sure."

"Alrighty, prepare yourself. It's kinda crazy!"

"Uh oh! Don't tell me you've killed someone," you tease.

"Nope! Well, it's complicated. I can talk to the dead though."

"What?"

"It's my power. All my siblings have one."

"Really?"

"Cross my heart and hope to die!"

"Your brother can't teleport, by any chance, can he?"

"Yep! Time travel, too!"

"Wow. Must be nice."

"Yeah. He got lucky. Imagine being able to teleport! Instead I get to hear dead people yelling at me constantly."

"Yikes. What about everyone else?"

"Luther's power is super strength. Also super-annoyingness. Diego can control the direction of objects moving in midair. Allison can make you do anything if she rumors you. Ben can turn into an octopus monster. And Viktor? For years we thought he had no power. Then suddenly, weird stuff started happening. Turns out he can manipulate sound waves. Moral of the story? Don't underestimate anyone or else they might end up causing the apocalypse. Long story." He turns to you, concerned. "Hey, what's wrong? Oh! It's ok, we stopped the apocalypse if that's what you're worried about."

"No, that's not it. It's just... do you think there may be others with powers out there?"

"Oh, definitely! We can't be the only ones. You know, we were actually adopted, but there were 43 of us total. Dad just only got us 7. The weirdest thing: all our mothers just gave birth to us on the same day! They weren't pregnant the day before. I told you this was crazy."

"I think I might have powers too."

"Really? Are you shitting me? You better not be shitting me."

"I don't think so. What day were you born?"

"October 1st."

"That's my birthday too!"

"Holy shit! So, what do you think your power is?"

"I tend to have an uncanny ability to know what's going to happen before it does. It's always felt like I could predict the future, but I thought that was crazy. Until now."

"Whoa! Can you predict anything about me?"

"No, sorry. It's kind of fuzzy and unpredictable."

"Of course! You weren't trained like the rest of us! Hey, I have an idea! You should come by the academy and my siblings and I can help you figure it out."

"Really!"

"Definitely! Ben and I can pick you up tomorrow morning if you want."

You agree, intrigued. Klaus makes arrangements and you head home, trying to prepare yourself. You barely sleep that night, overwhelmed by the idea that you may have powers and disturbed by dreams of knives flying past your face. You pray it isn't an omen.
