Ivan sighed, walking into the bedroom without a care before stopping in his tracks.
"Hello, Rulyn," he blanked, seeing her standing in the middle of the room. She nodded her head at him before looking back to Alfred.
The bed, which had once sat in the middle of the room, was shoved into the corner, with a pile of heavy, fluffy blankets on it. Alfred was sitting on the bed, holding his stomach.
Rulyn walked over to him after a few seconds as Ivan went to put his stuff away, hearing her ask him a few questions but not quite knowing what they were.
Ivan looked back at them and Rulyn was getting ready to leave, picking up a big bag that he knew was full of her stuff.
"Rulyn, can we speak outside?" Ivan asked, glancing over to where Alfred was sitting. He saw the fearful look in his eyes, the twitching.
"He needs to have the bed in the corner so he can nest," Rulyn said without hearing his question, "it's not getting changed."
Ivan paused. That wasn't what he was going to ask. She walked out of the room and he followed, her snapping around after the door shut behind them. Nobody was in the hallway, which was unusual, but he ignored it.
"What?" she hissed. Her wolf ears twitched, and he knew she was angry because it was December- it was too cold for her.
"Is there any way to know what gender the babies would be?"
"No, not until they're like... eight or so?"
"What sex the babies would be?" he corrected himself.
"No, sorry," she said. Her tail flicked hard against her leg, "The only way would be to drill a hole into his stomach, and I don't want to do that."
Ivan's eyes widened for a split second before he calmed himself, "I agree. Thank you."
She nodded, and they parted. When he walked back into the room Alfred was standing in the middle of it, shaking slightly.
"Dorogoy," Ivan called, watching his eyes turn to him, "you are either going to nest, or relax, I don't want you just standing there."
Alfred nodded, walking over to him with slow, practiced steps. He wrapped his arms around his neck, bringing him down to his level so he could nuzzle into his cheek.
"What's wrong, baby?" he asked, petting his back.
"I'm scared," Alfred whispered, "it's soon."
"A week and a half," Ivan mumbled to himself, just realizing that it was close. Really close. His stomach churned and he shut his eyes.
"Are you ready?" Ivan asked, petting his cheek gently, resting his thumb just below his eye.
Alfred sucked in a breath, "I've waited two thousand years for this moment but now that it's almost here..."
"It's like a deadline," Ivan finished for him.
"Yeah..."
Ivan wrapped his arms around him, pulling him into a loose hug, "I'm going to pick you up," he forewarned, feeling Alfred freeze.
"Wait no I'm too heavy-" Alfred quipped, Ivan still picking him up with ease. He kinda liked carrying him around, he thought as he moved to hold him bridle style. He felt Alfred's hand against his collarbone slide down to his chest, and knew he was calming down.
"That was rude," the demon remarked.
"You need to relax," the demi-god replied, moving to set him down on the bed.
