Next To You

Chapter 7

As Wen and I sit on our respective places on the fort, there's somewhat of an awkward silence as if we don't know what to say to each other. I pull the sleeves down on my hoodie to cover my hands hoping he doesn't realize how nervous I am right now.

"Olivia, are you alright?"

Crap!

"I'm fine." I replied in a tone that came out quieter than intended. Wen nodded his head in response and then said "cool"

I don't know why we're being so awkward all of a sudden. Wen and I can normally have a great conversation and just laughing but now, things just seem so off. It all started with that interview when I said Wen and I were dating just so I could help out Mo and Scott. Darn you Olivia. I wanna take Gram's advice and tell him I like him but I don't know how. Maybe I can start off slowly to drop hints that I like him.

Then I remember, I suck at flirting. That would never work. I'm just too shy and clumsy. Realizing that it's still silent, I just decide to see if he wants to watch a movie.

"Do you wanna watch a movie?" we ask at the same time.

Wen stops and looks at me, giving me his goofy cute smile. "A movie will be great." I give him a soft closed mouth smile in return.

Walking over to the tv, I turn it on putting it on Netflix. I then grab the remote and hand it over to Wen. "Here, you can find us a good movie to watch and I'll go grab us some snacks." I inform him.

As I go into the kitchen, I can see Gram sitting at the table and reading one of her newspapers.

"Gram help me! I'm totally bombing!" I plead.

Gram chuckles to herself and then closes up her newspaper. "Liv dear, it's not that hard to tell him how you feel. Just tell him the truth."

"Don't you think I'm trying? I am so scared of rejection."

"Tell him or I will. Or maybe I'll call Stella and have her tell him."

My eyes pop out of my head as I realize how bad of an idea it is to have either Gram or Stella to be the one to tell Wen about my crush on him. "Oh please no...I'll tell him."

"Good." she says with a smile. Now let me make the two of you my famous lemonade."

While Gram was making some lemonade for us, I popped us some popcorn and went in the cabinet and grabbed some gummy worms that we had. I put everything on a nice little snack platter and then by time I was done, Gram was finished with the lemonade.

"Thank you." I told her to show my gratitude. I poured the lemonade into two different cups, and then Gram helped me bring everything back out to the living room. Once we set everything down, I said one last thank you to Gram before she left.

"Here is a glass of lemonade for you, and then there is also some popcorn and gummy works." I say to Wen while pointing to everything laid out.

"Thank you Livvy."

My heart fluttered at the cute nickname he just called me. He's never called me that before. Actually nobody has ever called me that before. I can feel myself beginning to blush profusely so before he notices, I decide to change the subject.

"So umm, what movie did you decide on?" I question curiously.

"Well I picked The Devil Wears Prada. It's a classic. Plus I love anything with Emily Blunt in it. She's my celebrity crush."

Oh great, now I have to compete with THE Emily Blunt.

"I've actually never seen it before." I reply. "Wow, I'm really surprised in you Livvy. It seems liked the type of movie that you would really enjoy" he says in shock.

"Well how about you play it and then we'll find out." I say in an attempt to flirt which comes out totally cheesy.

Wen grabs his blanket and then scoots closer to me. He wraps the blanket around our bodies. I feel myself heating up from the close proximity of our bodies.

Wen looks at me with a slight smirk on his face and says, "Good. Now that we're comfortable, let's start the movie."

I am so so so sorry for the late chapter. I know I promised to update 2 days ago. I was just about to finish the final edits on the chapter when my wifi went out. My college courses have been really stressful and therefore I have writers block. I'm really doing my best to try and find the time for this story and I am truly sorry. I will finish this book though, it is something I love doing and this is for you all to enjoy so thank you for supporting me :) Stay tuned for next week's chapter!!
