Since dad left

12 2 1

He slams the drink down
And he slurs his words.
He yells at you from afar
And you turn to him.
He tells you that you're nothing
And you agree.
This goes on and on
Until you're thirteen.
When he finally stops
You think its okay.
That nothing could go wrong
What a mistake.
He does it again
Though this is the final time.
He treats you worse
And you've had enough.
You're fifteen now
It's been two years since.
He cant push you around
So you say something back.
That was wrong
You should have just let it happen.
Followed the routine
Never stray.
But you did and now
And now your in the bathroom.
On the floor
Crying and alone.
You call the police
What else do you do?
They come and take him away
You feel accomplished.
They speak to you but
You cant focus.
They say he's allowed back
And I am indifferent.
He comes back two days later
It's as if nothing happened.
Now I'm 16
Going on 17.
Life is utter shit
But he said he wants to leave.
I am filled with joy
And complete dread.
Our money will decrease
Our lifestyle will flip.
But if he isn't here
I will be fixed.
