Part 11

DESPAIR.

The perfect word to describe Takaki's feeling right now. His excitement to explore the diving spots in Borneo island diminished at once. Everything feels dull and dark.

Takaki promised to accept whatever Daiki's decision might be. He was pretty sure the boy would choose Inoo over him, given the relationship discord they had before he left. Hence when Daiki texted him saying that he missed him, Takaki was over the moon. He wished he could transport himself from Jeju Island to Tokyo in a flash and hug Daiki all night.

He thought Daiki has made up his mind.

He thought he was the one who owns Daiki's heart.

He thought their conflict has finally ended.

Clearly those are just illusions. Daiki did not love him after all.

Takaki sighs. He slowly lies his back on the beach chair just in front of his chalet, putting both of his hands behind his head. He stares blankly at the beautiful starry sky. Even this heavenly view can't sooth his aching heart. The sight of Daiki and Inoo kissing keeps haunting him. He wishes he could go back in time and stop himself from returning home 3 days ago.

Now Takaki could not get the painful image out of his mind.

His heart is beyond broken. It is smashed.

Why is it, after all you did, I am still in love with you Dai-chan?

What sorcery did you use on me?

Why can't I get you out of my head?

If only you know how much I love you. What more do you want me to do to prove that to you?

"You did it on purpose," Hikaru sits at the empty seat next to Inoo.

"What do you want?" Inoo crosses his arms. "I've got enough scolding from Kota."

"Serves you right."

"If you are planning to nag about me and Dai-chan, then please just leave. Maybe you want to join the others next door."

"Why did you do that?"

"What did I do?"

"Why did you kiss Dai-chan?"

Inoo turns and look at Hikaru straight in the eyes. "The same reason you kiss Kota. I love him."

"I thought you've moved on."

"I never did..."

"You said you gave him up-"

"I was terrified."

"Of what??"

Inoo just shook his head. "It's best for you to not know. For the sake of the group."

Hikaru squints at the boy. "You checked Yuya's schedule."

"So?"

"You planned all this."

"Say whatever you want Hika."

"You are my best friend Kei. You can't lie to me. There's no doubt that you love Dai-chan. Everyone knows it. But what happened that night was totally planned."

"You think so?"

"You know Yuya will rush back to Dai-chan once he knows Dai-chan is sick. It's not a co-incidence that you request to send Dai-chan's food on the same day Yuya had his day off before flying to his next location. I just don't understand why."
