"MOMMY WHAT WAS THAT?!" I called downstairs.

"Sounded like 3 gunshots! Where's Bryce?!"

"I don't know! He's not answering anymore!" I ran downstairs to see my mom. I started hyperventilating. Those shots were way too close to the house and Bryce said he was close. I called him 3 more times, no answer. "Mommy, MOM HE ISN'T ANSWERING!"

"Baby look at me. Calm down." She put my face in her palms. "We have to stay calm."

The doorbell rang. I went to open it and Angelo stood there.

"Hey, K. You okay?" He had on a hoodie and joggers. The shots probably woke him up and came here to check on Bryce and I.

"I- I don't know he just- he won't-"

"Kenya calm down, talk slow."

"Bryce called me before coming home from the basketball court and a few minutes after he hung up, I heard the shots. Now he's not answering." I looked up at Angelo and his eyes widened.

"Come on come hop in my car." He turned and went toward his car. My mom was yelling at me from the house but I didn't care to hear what she had to say. I got in the car and ignored her. I then texted her and told her I would be fine.

Angelo and I drove two minuted before pulling up to what obviously looked like a crime scene. There was caution tape, police officers and an ambulance. The paramedics were actively giving somebody CPR. I jumped out and ran, Angelo followed me.

"Ma'am." A police stopped me from subconsciously went under the tape.

"Boss, she's the one from the picture." Another cop called out.

"What picture?!" I screamed.

"This one." The cop in front of me pulled out a wallet and opened it. It was a picture from last year of me and Bryce in front of our favorite ride at the fair. I started to hyperventilate and cry.

"Oh my God! That's my cousin!"
