The morning's rays filter in through your curtains. You roll over and grab your phone to check what time it is, eight o'clock. Good, you can get an early start to your day. One text from Jenny. Good thing I changed my phone number before I left New York.

You open the message

Hey J! Hope the move went great. Can't wait to visit you! New York City just isn't the same without you.
P.S - he's stopped contacting me too. Maybe he finally got the hint once you changed your number. Good riddance!
Video chat me soon!

You roll back over and stare at the ceiling. It's been one week since you arrived in Boston, one week since you left your old life behind and you still need to remind yourself that you need to move on. If only it didn't take so long to do so. That kind of hurt doesn't go away that fast, those memories don't fade as quickly as you want. You need to get yourself busy so you don't wallow too much again.

New city, new life. New city, new life.

You repeat the mantra over and over again as you get dressed to run your errands for the day. You grab your favorite pair of jeans, a t-shirt, baseball cap, and light jacket. Finally dressed you look at yourself in the mirror.

Not bad, at least your eye bags are finally starting to go away.

Luckily, you found a great apartment after your third day in the city. Good thing you made friends with Ethan on the plane and he helped you narrow down your choices through one particularly long phone call. Exchanging numbers at the airport was a good idea, though you were hesitant at first. He didn't push however,he let you come to that decision on your own. Making a friend so quickly has it's advantages even if he doesn't text or have social media like normal people and calls instead.

It's only been a few days and you can't imagine him taking selfies or sharing memes, you laugh to yourself.

The apartment isn't huge but it's perfect for you. Since all you brought with you was clothes, shoes, and some sentimental items in your luggage your place is pretty empty. Today would be the day you'd go furniture shopping and finally stop sleeping on the air mattress you got at the store.

As you hop off the T your stomach starts to grumble and you remember that you didn't have any breakfast. The sound of coffee with a croissant sounds amazing. You head into the first coffee shop you see and reach the counter to let the barista know your order. You look around for an empty table to wait and see one tucked away in the corner by some books and head over. As you reach the table you notice that someone had the same idea and was hidden from view. He looks up from his book when he senses your presence and smiles. You're surprised, your heart stops for a moment.

"Good morning, Jenevieve. What a lovely surprise."

"Oh! Ethan! I'm sorry I didn't realize someone was already was sitting here. You were hidden from view."

"Yes, this is a popular spot for those of us who wish to be not seen, although I don't mind having your company if you'd like to still sit here."

"Only if I'm not intruding anything."

"No, not at all. I'm just taking a break from work. Trying to see if I can get a different perspective on something. What brings you to this coffee shop?"

"Honestly, it was the first one I saw getting off the T. I completely forgot about breakfast and just left the apartment ready to get some things done since I start my new job next week. If you're taking a break from work does this mean your office is close by? "
