RISING UP - STORY 2.2:
_____________________________________She breathed in and out as she sat in the backstage if the auditioning room. A large woman walked upto her and offered her some biscuits, "Calm down honey, I know you'll do great out there" she said with a kind smile. Aleissia was too nervous to speak so she ate them and offered a grateful nod to her. She considered her words again as she remembered,
*Flashback*
She walked into the fancy studio with the audition slip clutched in her hand. "Uh, hey! This is the studio for music auditions this week right?" Aleissia spoke to the receptionist. She raised her eyebrow as she took in Aleissia's appearance, clearly disgusted by her clothing.
"Yep. But this is not the place to beg darling. You should be on the streets, right over there" the receptionist said rudely.
Aleissia managed to keep her voice from quivering from hurt, "Please direct me to your manager, I need to speak with him".
The receptionist opened her mouth to retort out something when the manager waltzed in.
"Yes?" He said. Aleissia handed over the letter that the music director had given her. The manager read the letter and looking up from it, beamed at her.
"Right this way" he said as he guided her along the hallways "Mr Carter has recommended your singing and I would like to hear it myself. Into this room Miss..."
"Aleissia" she said "Aleissia Bonham".
"Right" he said as he position himself at the chair along with two other judges.
He motioned for her to start singing and she did. Sing was all she did the entire day. They loved her singing so much that they began recording it after they had immediately hired her as the lead singer.
*End of Flashback*
"Now let's welcome, Aleissia.... Bonham!" The announcement rung.
She stepped onto the brightly lit stage gripping the mic in one hand. She placed it in the mic stand and glanced backstage. Mrs. Jones smiled at her and held a thumbs up. Aleissia nodded and begin to sing as the soft music enveloped her. She went on with flow and did not open her eyes until she heard the cheers and applauses fill the audience and from backstage. Aleissia smiled softly as she felt this wonderful feeling blossom inside her at finally overcoming the barriers of her father's insults.
