ONLINE RAKSHABANDHAN
------------------------------------------
Riya wasn't in a good mood today, rather a foul one. Today was Rakshabandhan and her brother was away and was not able visit her due to the lockdown."Bhaiyya had to move to a new town, that too without internet connection, on the hills! He had to have to be away for months. Ughh!!" She grumbled, visibly frustrated as she kicked a pebble into the pond as she walked to and fro from her house and back.
"For why I have worn these bangles, adorned myself with jewellery, and wore my new dress, I don't know!" Riya said shaking her head "I hope Bhaiyya is fine though, he does have a lot on his plate..."
"Riya! Come inside we have a surprise for you!" her mother called out to her from the living room. Surprise? What could it be? Maybe Ma has made some laddoos? she thought as she lifted her embroidered anarkali skirt and made her way inside. She was pleasantly surprised to see her laptop displaying her brother's happy face! "Rohan! I thought you said there was no internet connection in the hills?"
"Hey! I haven't seen you for months and all you can talk about is internet connections? Anyway, I had called in a special favor from the electrician." he said.
Riya grinned and said "That's nice! By the way I have sent a parcel package of the rakhi with Ma's homemade sweets. We sent it 3 days ago, just incase it didn't reach you in time. Did you get it?"
"Right here" Rohan said lifting the rakhi up. Their mother brought the Aarti plate in with two lighted diyas and other pooja items. Riya sang the gayatri mantra.
"Wow Riya! I see you have maintained your voice....in horrible tunes!" He teased her. Riya playfully glaring at her brother said "I would've got you back for this, but for today....I'll forget about it" He tied the raki onto his hand and held a laddoo in his hands. "Happy Rakshabandhan sis!"
She reciprocated his gesture,"Happy Rakshabandhan to you too". Just when she was about to eat the laddoo, Aadhya, her cousin sister, came in sat in her lap and stuffed the laddoo into her mouth, "Even I want to see Bhaiyya!" she said to which everyone burst out laughing. They enjoyed and chatted the evening away! Hmm.. this Rakshabandhan wasn't too bad afterall!
