Chapter 5

P.o.v. Dom

The party took place a bit outside of town, so my mom drove us there. We would've been much faster if I just jumped on Matt's back again, but my mom insisted on taking the car, so we had to agree. She still didn't know that my boyfriend wasn’t human, and I couldn’t just blurt it out. When we drove up the hill to the house, we already heard the loud music coming from the party. My mom wished us much fun and then left us alone. “Did I dress appropriate by the way?”, I smirked at Matt and rubbed my hands over the neon green pants I decided to put on. “Oh yeah.”, he smirked back, “You’re such an attention whore.” “Oh shut up.”, I giggled pinching his arm, “You two aren’t better at all!” I looked up and down their outfits and the gothic makeup in their faces. “That was Matty’s idea, don’t look at me.”, said Lucas, putting up his hands. “Let’s just go inside yeah? I have to fill Dom up.”, said Matt quickly and drew me and his step brother towards the door. We showed the bodyguard our invitations and he let us in. The music was even louder inside and the two vampires next to me covered their ears with a painful look on their faces. “Fuck, forgot about that.”, said Matt loud enough, so I could hear him. “I’ve got earplugs, hold on.”, I said and pulled the small box out of my pockets. Since I’m a drummer, I always carry some fresh ones with me. They thankfully took them and sighted in relief, after they protected their sensitive hearing. “Now let’s go grab some drinks. I need to know if I can get drunk.”, smirked Matt, rubbing his hands together. We went to the buffet, but we first took some of the fruit juice there. I told Matt I wanted to wait before getting pissed up, so we started easy.

After we poured down our fifth glass of fruit juice, I slowly started to feel funny. There was something mixed into the beverage, no doubt. I felt a rush of euphoria in my whole body and the objects in the distance became blurry and seemed to melt together, creating funny pictures. I giggled at it, hanging myself onto Matt, trying not to fall to the ground. “Dom?”, he asked, slightly confused. “There’s… there’s something in the juice.”, I giggled. “Yeah… no shit Sherlock…”, said Matt, staring into his glass, moving its contents around. Then he just shrugged and drank it. Apparently he was completely immune to the effects. He looked kinda disappointed. “Okay, no more juice for you then.”, he said, taking the glass out of my hand and drinking it. 

P.o.v. Matt

Everywhere were students from the school, giggling and rolling around on the floor. What the fuck was in that juice? I felt absolutely nothing. A shame. I’d like to have some fun too. We went outside to get some fresh air. It was a cool, early October night but they still had the pool out. Some already jumped in and shrieked when the cold water made contact with their skin. I thought about taking a swim too. But then someone else clutched himself onto me. “Maaaaaatt… dudeeeee… that juice is funkyyyy! You have to try it.”, I heard the voice of Morgan babble. “I have and I don’t exactly feel the same you know?”, I said back, slightly annoyed and pushing our keyboard player away. Slowly, the effect on Dom started to wear off and he became more steady on his own feet. “Ah shit…”, he mumbled, “No more… that was freaky. I need alcohol.” I saw this as a good opportunity to check, if I can get drunk, so we grabbed ourselves two six-packs. Well, the drug didn’t make me feel shit, so I didn’t have much hope, but I still could try. Lucas joined us and together we started to empty the cans. A crowd has formed itself around us and they cheered and placed bets, how many cans each of us can empty. Dom had to stop after two, as he already started to feel tipsy. But Lucas and I were going, until we finished the six-packs. Everyone around us cheered and shouted, but I still didn’t feel anything. So I gave it up. Lucas on the other hand almost fell over, trying to walk and he laughed. I groaned. How come he’s drunk, but I’m not? “I’m gonna go for a piss.”, groaned Dom next to me and walked off to the bathroom.
