chapter 3

SONG : JAMES BAY HOLD BACK THE RIVER

DEREK'S POV :

I was listening to some 7th grader doing a slam when I noticed that the girl next to me wasn't looking very good . She appeared very pale and she was stumbling as if she was trying to catch her balance . I was about to ask her if she needed help when she fainted . I quickly kneeled down to help her . I taped her shoulder trying to wake her up . Teachers were sprinkling water on her face. Her eyes slowly fluttered open adjusting to the light , she looked so pure . I took time to examine her features, she had perfectly tanned skin and wavy hazel hair . Her face was thin and she had a small button nose , she looks so innocent but kind of sad or something its like she had some sort of sorrow on her face . I watched her slowly sitting up she looked so weak, she was really struggling to get up , I got asked to bring her to the school's nurse by the teachers , which didn't bother me at all as I was looking forward to get to know her. I walked slowly along her side through the hallway. We finally made our way to the nurse office , when we arrived she was chatting with the school's janitor , she gave heather an energy drink and a pack of ice although I don't see how the ice might help. Heather laid down on the small bed , I took this chance to engage a conversation with her. She was actually very funny , we were laughing about how the nurse Mrs Brice and Mr Jensen the school janitor would look good together .
"so, how are you going home today after school" I questioned her. She replied that she will probably take the bus or if she had enough energy she would walk home. I told her that walking or taking the bus weren't a so great idea as she just fainted literally an hour ago. "Maybe we could ride together" I proposed. She looked very surprised .

"Why would you want to ride with me??? You barely even know me, I could be a psychopath or a serial killer on the run for all you know" she said laughting. "Well , a very cute serial killer then" I replied. She stopped laughting and put on a little smile. She lowered her head and started blushing. Did I just made her blush?! Omg she looks so cute with her flushed face. "Common, I have football practice right now, but meet me at the first exit in the school's parking lot after school, I'll drive you home". She simply gave me a smile and shook her head in approval..

HEATHER'S POV

So apparently I fainted during the school morning assembly.
The guy Derek that was standing next to me during the assembly accompanied me to the nurse office. He walked slowly beside me through the hallway, which was very funny, he looked so awkward walking slow.
We eventually made it to the nurse office, where she was chatting and laughing with Mr Jensen the school's janitor. The nurse gave me an energy drink and a pack of ice, to place on injuries I got myself when I fainted I guess, I don't see much of its importance tho. I laid down on the bed, she gave me and Derek nurse's office pass for an hour.
Derek was very helpful, he refilled my cup with water, and kept on asking Me whether I needed anything. He even proposed to drop me home today after school, which I was kind of sceptic about at first. I wanted to walk home, because I drank an energy drink today, which isn't the best to lose weight, if I walked home I would be able to burn some of the calories i took today. I kind of wanted to ride with him so i eventually accepted and I didn't want him to think that I'm weird for walking a considerably long distant after fainting during the day.

After an hour I made my way to class and Derek went to football practice,he told me to meet him after school in the parking lot. I had accounting class, this was the class I hated the most. I was listening to the teacher ranting about lost on disposal when finally the bell rang for lunch.
I made my way to the caffetteria, sat down on mine and Corry's table and waited for him before starting to eat, I brought cherry tomatoes and baby carrots for lunch today. Once Corry came we started eating, he was eating a slice of pepperoni pizza which made my mouth water, I wish I could eat pizza too but I really needed to get off some weight so I sticked to my tomatoes and carrots.

Time flew by quicker than expected to , it was already 2 pm and the bell rang to dismiss school. I found myself waiting for Derek in the parking lot . it was already 2 : 05 and there was still no sign of Derek . My heart started to drop , thinking that it was all set up ,I mean it was kind of obvious why would anyone want to ride with a fat pig like me , I'm literally an eyesore . no longer wanting to deal with the embarrassment i decided to put my hood over my head ,plug my earphones and start walking away . i was about to get out of the school grounds when i heard a honking behind me . It was Derek!
