Hermione hurried along the corridor, eager to get back to the Gryffindor common room before she was caught roaming the halls this late. As her feet carried her quickly but soundlessly, due to the muffling charm she had cast on her shoes, she brushed the cobwebs from her robes and tied her hair away from her face to hide how messy it was.
She gasped out the password to the Fat Lady and slipped through the portrait hole, hoping not to be noticed by anyone who might still be awake. Luckily the common room was empty and she spent half a minute catching her breath and calming her racing heart. When she knew that no one would question why she was out of breath she finally crossed the common room and made her way to the girls dormitory and began getting ready for bed.
As she folded her robes she noticed that her prefect badge, usually adorned with the Gryffindor lion, was different. Quickly unfolding the robes she searched for the embroidered symbol of her house and then realised what had happened. She had put on the wrong robe in the darkness of the broom cupboard.
'Shit.' She whispered into the dark quiet of her dorm room.
