Rising Sun : Chapter 3

Extended Family

This is definitely not normal. I'm surrounded by very big werewolves and some serious looking Cullens. I thought that wolves and vampires are mortal enemies. I was sadly mistaken. There was silence as we stood around in the large clearing. I could sense the small life forms scurrying around in fear beneath our feet.

Carlisle, who Edward introduced me to when we got to the clearing, walked forward. He was with a tall man who must have been a werewolf, he smelled like a wet dog.

"My name is Sam and I am the leader to most of the wolves you see around you. At this moment, we have no intention of hurting you. We only want to speak. We want to start of with you telling us about yourself." Sam said.

I took a deep breath and told them all about my human life and about my transformation. When I finished, it seemed as though they all took a sigh of relief. I saw Carlisle give a large smile and Esme looked as though she were about to cry tears. However, I'm pretty sure our bodies don't allow us to.

"You pose us no threat and are free to do as you please. We do ask that you talk with the Cullens because there are many rules and people that you must know about." Sam gave Carlisle a meaningful look and all the wolves ran into the forest apart from a chocolate brown one.

He walked towards Renesmee and she patted his head affectionately. I felt a small amount of jealousy run through me, I had always wanted a dog but my mom was always against it. I wonder if one of the wolves would be willing to be my pet. I even pictured myself walking the brown wolf around on a leash who was almost as tall as me on all fours. Before I could ask, Edward burst out laughing so hard I thought he would die.

"Oh please ask him. If you ask him, you will have made my decade." He said after he had some self composure.

I stuck my tongue out at him. How does he even know? Oh no, he can read minds! What am I going to do!

Esme pulled me into her arms and gave me a kind smile before I could ask him if my assumption was correct. Everyone walked towards me and basically welcomed me into the family. Carlisle told that me that my mom was welcome in their home as well. The last person to congratulate me was Jasper, he looked kind of shy and asked me if I could help him with his blood lust. I was so excited I tackled him and told him that we could get started tomorrow after school.

Oh no, I forgot about school! My mom is going to be unbelievably mad. I've never skipped school. All of a sudden, I felt unnaturally calm and although it was comforting, it was slightly disturbing. Jasper and Edward looked at me expectantly.

"Oh my goodness, not only do you read minds but you change how I feel?!" I gasped.

"No! I can only read minds. Jasper did that for you. Before you ask, Bella can create a shield across your mind so that it cannot be penetrated, Nessie can put images inside of your head, and Alice can see the future." He said proudly.

My face must have been pretty funny because they all started laughing.

"So you guys are like super threats. Not only can you control the main elements, you have even more extra abilities. You guys are amazing!" I practically screamed jumping up and down. I'm so excited that they are my extended family members now!

"Umm, Edward? What is she talking about?"Carlisle asked.

In less than half a second, all of the Cullens were standing in front of me and waiting. Carlisle slowly turned to look at me. The brown wolf ran into the woods and quickly came back as a man. He sat down in the grass next to Nessie and they all looked at me expectantly. I cringed a little and walked back about 100 feet when I figured out they want a demonstration.
