-2- A bad photo

Yibo had been walking through the darkness for over an hour. He knew the way so well by now that he rarely needed to turn on his flashlight. The sounds of the forest hadn't scared him for a long time. Only now and then, when he heard something like a growl, he quickly switched on his flashlight, shone it in the direction the sound came from and then realized that there was nothing there.

When Yibo finally reached the park, he sat on the monument and looked up at the sky. The clouds covered the stars and the moon, but he was still fascinated by this sight. Only when he suddenly noticed voices did he turn his gaze back to his surroundings. Fortunately, he knew this place very well by now and knew where he could hide easily.

Carefully and slowly he walked step by step until he reached one of the big bushes. He meandered between two bushes and hid in the big bush. The voices had come much closer and Yibo became nervous. If they knew half as much about this place as Yibo, they might be able to spot him.

Now he would have liked to turn on his flashlight so that he could at least see something. But he realized that he shouldn't do that because otherwise they would discover him. And these voices do not sound very friendly.

The voices, which belonged to three men, had arrived in the park. They were arguing about some deal that had failed, and which of the three was to blame for the failure of the deal. And as they walked through the park, they shone their flashlights in all directions. They came closer and closer to Yibo's hiding place.

Yibo hardly dares to breathe for fear he would reveal himself. Something flashed in the hand of one of them and under the light of one of the flashlights, Yibo saw that it was a butterfly knife. He swallowed heavily and began to tremble slightly. Should he perhaps crawl out of the bushes and try to get away unseen through the thicket of the other bushes?

When the men stopped in front of his bush, of all places, and shone in all directions again, Yibo almost screamed in his panic. But suddenly someone appeared beside him. He put his hand on Yibo's mouth and indicated with his finger that he should be quiet.

Yibo stared at the man, he wore a black mask, a black baseball cap that was pulled deep into his face, a coat and his hood was on. That's him, it's really him. Thought Yibo and his heart started racing with excitement. Where did he suddenly come from? How did he know that Yibo was hiding there?

When one of the men came so close to the bush that Yibo could hear him breathing, the man next to him lifted his coat, gently pressed Yibo's head against his shoulder and covered him with his coat. Yibo clasped his arms around him. He felt colder than people usually do. Still, he felt safe and secure with him.

After a few minutes, Yibo heard the three men leave again. Still he clung tightly to his protector who had put his arm around him and held on tightly.

Ten minutes later, the three men were gone. Yibo wanted to turn on his flashlight, but the man shook his head. "Leave it off." He whispered.

"Who are you? What is your name?" Yibo wanted to know.

"None of that matters."

"But..."

"Believe me, it's better if you don't know."

"Then may I at least take a picture of you?"

"What for?"

"So I know I wasn't just dreaming."

"Well, I guess nobody believed you then, did they?"

"Yeah. Not even my father."

"Well, you can take a picture. But I think it's gonna be a bad photo."

"So I can still take the picture?"
