Chapter 4: The Interest

Hermione's POV:

The next days went by quickly and without great disturbances. I got the timetable from my head of House Professor Slughorn and sometimes had eye contact and weird encounters with Tom Riddle. Furthermore, I felt watched every time, no matter where I was or what I did, except at the dormitory of course. I concluded that it must have happened because of me starting school in the middle of the school year, so I don't have my mind on it. My plan on how to make Tom Riddle a better person or on good occasion (maybe), if no other options are available kill him, are nearly completed. My first move is to befriend him, and I will try it in a friendly and not a kind of strange way. Now I must conclude how to do it. How could I befriend Voldemort; He who has or hasn't killed and rather rotted half of the wizarding population? Muggles are hereby not included. How many Muggleborns have given their lives just because he as a half blood couldn't stand them? It's simply barbaric and disgusting. Could that boy even be able to have a friendship?

It was Monday the 13th of September 1942 at 6 o'clock. I woke up dressed and washed myself and went to the Slytherin common room for a little bit of reading. The girl's dormitory with Chari Greengrass, Lucida Parkinson and Warburga Black wasn't suitable for that. Warburgas snoring was unbelievable. So, I went down the stairs to the common room and went straight to the fireplace which surprisingly was taken by none other than Tom Marvolo Riddle himself.

Tom Marvolo Riddles POV:

I could barely sleep because of the new girl Hermione Flamel and my new Discovery. I searched about a dozen books to get more information about her. If her father was the inventor of the sorcerer stone, why isn't she mentioned in any of them? It just couldn't be, so I wrote all my thoughts and my next steps about it in my diary. But then my thoughts went another road which leads me to my new discovery.

As I strolled around the castle to search specifically for Salazar's Chamber of Secrets, I went to the second-floor girls' bathroom. The taps had snakes engraved which gave me hope to my mission. I look for that Chamber for almost two years and finally my time has come, so I searched for an entrance, any clue, any signs other than the silver engraved snakes upon those taps. At last I remembered something from the book "Hogwarts a History", which states that only the true heir of Salazar Slytherin could open the Chamber of Secrets, so I concluded that I must speak Parseltounge and so I did. And then the entrance of the Chamber of secrets revealed itself. It was the pipes.

Suddenly I heard footsteps coming from the girl's dormitories and I wrote at last.

Soon I will open the Chamber of Secrets and the monster for those foul mudbloods. But for now, my interests lay upon Hermione Flamel. Who is this girl?

Tom Riddle

Hermione's POV:

I looked at him straight in the eye before he wrote his last words in this black leather book. This can't be his diary can it? I never saw it before. But in all classes, we have, he never wrote in his books. Even not when he is doing homework. He probably understands the value of books and keeping them clean. So, this must be it. The Diary, which will be turned into a horcrux.

"Hello", I awkwardly said, "Why are you up this early?"

"I could ask you the same."

"Is this your diary?" I dumbly asked and regretted it.

"No, just my homework planner", he lied.

"Really, I mean you looked very absorbed in thought as you wrote all your homework in it. It would have been a more believable story if you had done your homework or had classes. And honestly, you are not the type of guy doing your homework this late. You're more the type of doing it once you get it", I said in a matter of fact kind of tone.
