Ok, Lucy.  You can do this.  I took a deep breath in, staring at myself in the mirror.  My hair curled up slightly, just below my shoulders.  I touched the cut ends, trying to control my emotions.  My phone buzzed and I pulled it out to check.

~Are you awake?~  It was Levy.

~Yes of course~  I rolled my eyes as I typed back my response.  I pulled my bag on over my shoulder, checking myself in the mirror one last time.  My phone buzzed again, Levy was calling.

"Hey,"  I said, slipping on my shoes.

"Hey, you on your way?"  She asked

"Yup, I'm just putting my shoes on,"  I opened the door and stepped out, "Just leaving.  I'll see you in a few minutes."

"You have all your equipment, right?"

"I'm not a child, Levy."  I laughed, "Of course I have - oh shit."  Now it was Levy's turn to chuckle.

"Come on Luce."  I could hear the exasperation in her voice.

"Hey, cut me some slack.  I'm going through something right now."  I grabbed my case and ran out the door,  "I'm going now.  I have my equipment, and I'll be there soon.  I'll see you in a bit."

"Ok, see you soon."  I stepped through the door and stopped in my tracks.  I saw a flash of pink hair cross in front of me.

"Natsu?"  I called out excitedly.  The person turned around, and I let out a deflated sigh as I realised it wasn't him.

"Sorry, I mistook you for someone else."  I laughed, starting to walk away.

"My cousin?"  I stopped dead in my tracks, "I heard you say his name."

"He's your cousin?"

"Yeah, I'm clearing out his place.  Apparently he doesn't want to run into his ex.  How do you know him?"

"Oh, uh, I'm his student."  I gestured to my uniform, "You know, big test today and I thought I could get some last minute words of wisdom.  Big test that I'm close to being late for, shit."

"Of course."  She gestured for me to go.  I smiled and walked off.

"Fuck, that went badly,"  I groaned, leaning onto Levy for support.

"I'm sure you did fine,"  She said.

"I'm sure I didn't.  You know I pretty much suck at maths."

"No you don't.  We'll revise it together for the next exam,"  Levy tucked her arm into mine as we made our way back to the common room.  Suddenly, Levy squealed beside me.

"Guess who?"

"Gajeel,"  Levy giggled.  I unlinked my arm from hers, smiling.  Gajeel grabbed Levy's hand and walked beside us.

"How was the exam?"  He asked.

"Bad,"  I groaned again at the same time Levy said 'good'.  Gajeel laughed.

"We all know Levy's the brainbox out of us."

"You're clever too, Lucy."  Levy protested.

"I also have a terrible habit of not revising and not paying attention in classes,"  I reminded her,  "Come on, Levy.  Just admit you're basically a genius and much smarter than the both of us."  Levy blushed and shuffled closer to Gajeel.

"Fine."  Gajeel leaned down to kiss her on the forehead quickly.

"Ew,"  I laughed.  Levy blushed harder whilst Gajeel chuckled.
