Yeong-su can't help but grit his teeth in frustration and knuckle his fingers into a fist as he recalls what happened in the marketplace today.
What he saw was a fox. Certainly a fox. So, the murderers really haven't 'vanished into thin air', like what his family strongly believed in for years.
He sat down in the nearest boulder and looked up into the beautiful moonlight.
"Father, I saw a fox today. My blood heightened up to the extremes as I looked into her eyes and as I had to muster up all my might, take everything good inside me not to make a mess out of her blood right then and there, and so as not to scare the townspeople. Father, it was the hardest thing ever. I am not afraid about the humankind finding about usㅡ not in this lifetime. So sooner or later my dear father, I will have that fox in my arms cold and lifeless. Our well-preserved copper goblins are already anticipating for her blood. Oh, I'm no fortune teller nor a shaman but I know it is going to be the biggest feast in the nation! Even bigger than a feast announced by the King himself." he spoked to the air. His voice, stern and sure.
"There aren't plenty of them. I can track and trap her down whenever I wish to. But I'd like to give her some more time to feel frightened the way I did that night. She should be daunted of what's coming her way. Together with her troop of foxes. Since today, the day I found out that they are still alive, would be the beginning of their doomed lives. I will surely... avenge your unjustified death." he wiped a tear running down from an eye as he breathed out the last words.
He stood up, painfully and ever so-slowly transforming into a monster that every single human being feared and cried for. This is who he really is. A voracious, unrelenting monster.
Jolly, strong and helpful Yeong-su is loved by everyone he knew in the broad daylight and by the rays of the sun, but they would definitely despise him if they knew him from the dusk and by the moonlight shine. He slowly walked and let the darkness of the night embrace him fully. He started running swiftly into the woods with that impossible speed, chasing and being chased by nothing.
By the end of the dark of the woods would be his home, wherein he would be closer to the mother moon. And as he was coming closer, his brisk running became slower each time.
As he reached the chasm, he scooted down like a poor, lost puppy. He was peeking at the moon with a left-out eye, while the rest of his face was covered with his arms. He stayed that way for a moment before stretching up, moving a leg forward and felt the cold, crisp air before he started howling into the moon.
After what seemed like forever, and that long cry, he has gone back into his human self.
He climbed up on one of the trees behind him and grabbed a pair of dark-colored Baji trousers hanging from a branch. He jumped back to the ground and threw his now-human legs onto the Baji.
A/N: uhm, yes, he is topless here... O_O
He reached for some persimmons from one of nearby trees before sitting back to the chasm, his feet swinging above the abyss. He was just enjoying himself like he would every single night of his life when...
"What could be a little puppy like you doing out here in the dawn? Ohhh... are those persimmons? Didn't knew you guys eat those too."
He leered his head to where the voice was coming from, only to see a goddess in a long flowing white dress. The view is just too unusual for an empty night like this. At the same time, he can't suppress the fact that he was amused. His mouth just flew open in utter suprise as she sits casually and confidently beside him.
"Yes, it's me again, wolf. It was nice bumping to you today... hmm, not really. I know it's horrible for you as it was for me but I just wish you can pretend that you don't want to kill me, even just for tonight. Please be an actor for now." she was almost whispering as she spoke, sounding a bit lonely. She took a little bite from a persimmon she stole from him.
Her voice sounded so soft. Too soft.
The fox stared deeply into his eyes, hoping for his friendly response. As if his words of promises to his deceased father was slammed shut and buried deep down to the ground, he finds himself agreeing with the fox. And like a puppy obeying to his master's order, he even nodded 'yes' for her alluring eyes to see. She just smiled warmly, as her 'thanks' to him, making him feel fuzzy inside.
It was a silent, peaceful night after all. And he is with the most delicate crystal no miner has ever yet discovered. Delicate, yet beaming and twinkling beautifully on her own. He thought that he might actually be the most fortunate lad as of the moment. It is possible. Out here in the night, enjoying his favorite fruit with his favorite target, his blood and mortal enemy...
