It already had been a month into school, all was fine. People still gasped everytime they saw Tris and Haku just exchange words but it had gotten less as the days went on. People often were wondering who Tristan was that he could achieve something like that so easily. It never occurred to the two that this was something other people saw as special.
A loud sneeze stopped the conversation of Tris and Haku. Haku didn't look well at all, his eyes all swollen, red cheeks and red nose. He was paler as white chalk, if that's even possible while being alive. His nose was running and he was emitting much heat from his forehead. >>Are you, sure that you're fine Haku? I mean don't get me wrong it's just th-<<
>>Yeah, yeah I am *cough* fine. Remember I have to go to... ha ha HACHU... sorry... to work<<
>>I think you should tell them you're ill.<<
>>I can't, I'm the only one with the owner today, all others have vacation<<
>>I'll do it for you<<
>>Are you crazy *cough*<<
>>I always am you know but seriously though, it's either you being home by yourself or you, getting send home by yourself. Your decision.<<
Hakus was thinking hard before sinking together in shame knowing Tris was right. He also knew that everyone else knew but they didn't want to make him feel uncomfortable by talking with him, that's something that happened a lot over the last years. >>But how do I tell them I'm sick, I hate phone calls.<<
>>Don't worry about that, I'll just tell them that you're sick, iI wanted to grt myself a coffee there anyway<<
Haku looked sceptical but agreed. Why shouldn't he be able to trust Tris?
Right after school Tris walked alongside Haku to ensure his safty on the way home. The illness of Haku was getting worse you could tell, where there previously was still a smilr was a face in agony. And his head, you could have burned yourself when touching it. As they arrived in Hakus apartment he lied down immediately.
Tris took a look around his room, it wasn't very big, had a boomshelf and many painting supplies. A small wardrobe where he couldn't help but see the sleeve of a pullover hang out. It was a pink pullover with fluff, something trendy with younger girls these days. He didn't mention it though. The only other thing in his room was thr bed Haku was sleeping in. As he made his leave he said to Haku, who was only half awake anymore >>Don't worry, I got this. I'll make sure you'll be better soon. By the way Haku, this pullover is that yours<<
While saying this Hakus face very slowly turned to the wardrobe he smiled and slightly nodded. Tris made his leave but not without laughing a bit to make Haku feel a bit better.
Not soon after leaving the apartment of the sick boy he went to the workplace of the same person. Upon entering he saw it was fuller then last time around, he only saw one person behind the counter though. As he went up to the person he asked >>Sir, are you Brandon Sir?<<
>>Who's asking?<<
>>Oh, my name is Tristan, I'm a friend of Haku. I sadly have to tell you he had fallen ill today at school.<<
>>I thought so, he would have been here normally<<
>>Erm.. I know it's not normal but seeing of how you don't have anyone to call upon, do you... need help till someone to work comes around again?<<
Brandon looked surprised by the offer. He was thinking a whole while before agreeing that he would take in the orders, nothing more. >>You can do this, right?<<
Tristan nodded willing to take over for his friend.Back at the place of Haku, he finally had awoken again. He saw the world a bit spinning but it was always that bad once he really fell ill. He tried standing up to go to the restroom, but it needed many minutes tmfor him to even stand up. He couldn't walk upright and more or less crawled alongside the wall to the restroom. He drank something before trying to head back in his cave of a bed.
After awaking once more a few minutes later, his head banging with all it's force trying to escape. As he stood up again the world around him seemed distant as if 100 of meters away. Just turning his head slightly causes the world to spin until he fell back down again.Back at the café Tristans arm nearly gave in due to all the writing he had to do. He seems so stressed at some times, questioning himself why he can't keep up sometimes.
>>Don't overwork yourself, if you can't take it anymore take a small break or if you want to leave just go, you, still don't officially work here so I can't keep you, if you want to leave.<<
>>What are you twlking about?<< Tristan told his "boss" off >>I promised to do this, I can pull through.<< he denounced smiling.
>>Okay, but if you have any trouble take a 10 minute break, I can cover for so long, I'm not an amateur you know.<< Brandon said jokingly.
Seeing how profesional his boss had already worked and knowing that he is totally calm about things Tristan came to the conclusion to take a break for a few minutes.
During his break he rushed to a store and bought some cheap can soup and then went quickly to Haku who was on the floor and a total mess of a person right now.
Upon seeing his friend at his feet Tristan jumped into action and brought his friend into his bed. Haku grabbed his arm as Tris wanted to leave but he was already half asleep and wasn't going to wake up unless forced to. So Tristan took the opportunity to leave into the kitchen to make a soup he had just bought. It may have been a plain simple store-bought soup but he poured much flavor into it by putting all sorts of spices into it. After that he went to wake Haku who seemed to be already awake again, he sighed as he saw his friend faintingly look in his direction and wave in a very slow way. Tris brougt the soup to Haku and left him to feed himself and to go back to work. As he left he could hear a faint and soft 'Thank you'. He left the flat smiling with pride because he could help his new best friend. When hr arrived he saw how the café was more empty than before, most of the customers were gone and those in the lane to grab something to go were reduced to merely two people. Brandon was behind the counter looking exhausted but reliefed that Tristan was back. He gave him his notebook and pencil again and left to brew some coffee and cut some more cake. Most of the customers left were elderly people except for few and all of them had their order in already so Tris waited for new people occasionally asking if the customers were enjoying their meals and coffees qnd if they needed something.
As he was attending to one customer an elderly lady walked in and asked Tristan if Haku was here, she knew he was supposed to have full day shift today. >>I'm sorry lady, Haku had fallen ill in school today, I'm here to cover his shift.<<
>>Oh my, is the young boy alright? How bad is it?<<
>>As for now I can say he collapsed twice today, I needed to carry him into his bed because he couldn't walk anymore. I left him with his soup to eat so I hope he's alright.<<
>>Oh so your his roommate? Do you also go to his school?<<
>>Quite yes I go to his school but I'm not his roommate, I am just worried about a friend that's all. Anyway, what may I bring you today?<<As the day passed and the closing hour came closer Brandon called for Tristan to take a piece of cake for his work. As he went to eat he found a note and a 50 dollar bill under the porcelain plate. Surprised he looked at Brandon who just gave a slight smile. You could tell he was enjoying his job as a server and coffee brewer aswell as baker for sweets. At night this café even transforms into a bar and you could ask yourself what can't this man do. Well the anwser is simple not being good at something.
As Tristan walked home he had kept the note closed, he wanted to wait til he arrived home and wanted to give the 50 dollar bill to some organizations or to his friend Haku. As he approched his home he saw his dad's car parked outside. As he entered his dad all dressed formal was just hanging his black coat. He came back from a business trip he needed to attend. His grey hairline was ever so slightly extending now having a bit of grey hair in his beard too but the friendly old charming air around him was still the same. >>Didn't think I'd be the one waiting for you to come home once, now tell me Trissy, where have ya been for so long?<<
>>A friend from school fell ill -<<
>>Who? Haku?<<
>>Yeah and I covered his shift at the café, you, round the corner down the street to the left, that one<<
>>The one that's a bar at night?<<
>>Yeah yeah that one!<<
>>Oh I see *chuckle* Well I hope Haku didn't catch anything bad, go phone him to make sure<<
>>I'll do that and you'll go start dinner okay?<<
>>Sure haha<<
Tristan dialed the number when he saw Haku had left him messages on his phone, reading:
'Brandon told me you took over my shift, I mean I kinda guessed it'
'You, brought the work clothes to my place when u made the soup'
'btw very good soup'
'Just gud'
'soup be like uwu'
'I'm a bit better but I'll stay home tomorrow, pls don't worry you worryhead'
'gud night... I can do better let me go again'
'nighty night :)'
He didn't reply except with a 'good night dear fren, c u round sometime then'.
He felt good knowing Haku was feeling better and even was thinking of cooking all by himself because he did such a good job with the soup but at the end decided against it cause when do you get the chance to cook with your dad after a long business trip?
