Next Morning

Sonakshi snuggled close to the source of warmth as cool breeze from the adjacent window caressed her morning skin. Chills trickled down her spine with every new stream of wind waves that gushed through the open binds. Her body as a reflex sought for some heat as she shifted close to the softness within her reach, entwining her arms as tight as ever on it. Except for the currents that barged in often, the sleep last night was so satisfying for her. The dream was even more soothing, tranquil to be precise.

"Close the binds please" Sonakshi whined shaking the pillow she was cuddled onto mistaking it to be the man of her dreams last night. He neither moved nor responded much to her chagrin. The idea of him sleeping thoroughly while she was quivering in cold bothered her. Her eyelids fluttered open as a matter of course while her ears strived to cope up with the shrilling voice that slightly marred her beauty sleep.

"Wake up Sonakshi. Have this drink & you will feel better" Juhi spoke in concern whilst forwarding a glass of lime to her best friend who was half awake yet switching sides uncomfortably as if in a transfix.

Sonakshi jerked from the bed half wondering if she was still in the daze of her dreams. Her eyes dilated taking in the rays of faint light that broke through the slit between the curtains. The sudden jolt made her head pound as if it was steps away from cracking open. She clutched her temple moaning in pain & vanished inside the duvet only to peek outside at the next second. Juhi shook her head in amusement & tore off the blanket from Sonakshi's body.

"Here, drink this crazy woman" Juhi placed the glass in Sonakshi's palms & eyed her to have it.

"I want to sleep" Sonakshi murmured wearily. She was better off with her pleasant dreams & his soothing touches that felt too real to be ignored. Reality was harsh & monotonous. The feel of his reassuring hugs overpowered the aloofness she used to feel whenever she woke up to her empty room.

"Penny to your thoughts Madam" Juhi spoke, almost pinning the glass on Sonakshi's mouth so that she would consume the drink without furthermore fuss.

"Uhmm Ju.. Did someone come over here last night?" Sonakshi asked in between the sips.

She couldn't digest the fact that all the bittersweet moments last night were a web of fantasies designed by her desperate brain. Could a dream make her feel warm & loved overnight? Perhaps yes! But he was her rival, the guy she despised with each breath she took & every next stroke of her heart. How could he make her feel so special? That too right after breaking her in the most painful way.

Everything seemed to be an unsolved puzzle. The closer she got to it, the swifter it headed away from her reach. She couldn't figure out what was happening around her. Her own feelings bewildered her. She was still in a trance.

"Why would you ask that?" Juhi retorted looking everywhere but Sonakshi. She wanted to blurt out every single incident that took place last night to her best friend. She so wished to squeal how perfect Aadyanth was on Sonakshi's face. She wanted to tease her best friend & get her all riled up in return. She would have went on speaking about his concern & worry if not for the word she had given to him.

Early in the morning when Juhi came to check on Sonakshi, Aadyanth was all set to leave the place. He seemed to be in a rush. Upon seeing Juhi, he seemed relieved. After a fair amount of casual bickerings & laughs on Sonakshi's expense, Aadyanth had strictly asked her to keep his stay a secret. The reason was still a mystery to Juhi. She thought only her best friend was weird but the guy she found for herself was equally weird as well.
