A Fatal Error

Chapter 4

  I finally start waking up, far more relaxed than I've ever been before. Opening my eye sockets I'm quickly engulfed in a hug. "OoF. bLuE?"
Blue smiles, clearly happy Error's awake. "You're awake! It's been two days!" He quickly gets off Error and helps him sit up, grabbing a plate of food from Scoundrel. "Thanks Scoundrel. Here. Eat this."
  I take it, staring at it in confusion. "WhAt Is ThIs? It LoOkS wEiRd." Tan circles with mini brown circles? How is that food? I poke at it. It's fluffy. How do people eat this?
  Blue giggles at Error's actions. "They're called pancakes! Chocolate chip pancakes to be exact! They're good!"
  I nod and take a bite, quickly falling in love with them. These pancakes are so good! Why have I not had them before?! Once I finish I immediately notice something different. "WhErE's NiGhTmArE?"
  Blue frowns. "Error.... Nightmare is.... He was taken by Fatal!Error... I'm sorry...."
  I'm too absorbed in my thoughts to notice Dream waking up with an orange eye light. Too absorbed to notice him speaking.
"Beware. An evil deity is trying to ruin your peace. They will stop at nothing. If they win ruin will fall upon us all." As soon as Dream finishes speaking whatever's controlling him lets him go and he passes out.
  I'm in my own little world, eye lights shaking and unfocused and breathing uneven. Not my friend. Not the one who saved me! I can feel- No! I can't have an attack! I can't have an episode! Not here! Not now!
  Wait. The song! Nightmare by NateWantsToBattle! It's always helped me vent! With that thought I start singing, drawing the attention of everyone in the room. "JuSt SlEeP. jUsT dReAm. JuSt SlEeP. JuSt DrEaM~"
  "jUsT sLeEp. JuSt DrEaM." I stand up and motion for everyone to follow, opening a portal to the Anti Void and leading everyone through. "In ThE bAcK oF mY mInD~ I wAs TrYiNg To ChAsE a MoNsTeR tHiS wHoLe TiMe."
  "BuT i CoUlDn'T sEe. ThE mOnsTeR wAs Me. AnD nO oNe HeArD oUr CrIeS. NoW I'vE rUn OuT oF tEaRs~ ThE tImE's CoMe FoR mE tO dIsApPeAr~ GeT mE oUt Of ThIs MeSs AnD aWaY fRoM tHiS sTrEsS."
  I open a portal to Outertale and lead everyone through to my stargazing spot. "SeT mE fReE sO i CaN rEsT! wE'rE oNlY kIdS wHo LoSt OuR wAy! BuT iF wE wAiT lOnG eNoUgH tHeN wE'lL bE sAvEd!"
  I open a portal to the Save Screen and lead everyone through. "JuSt SlEeP! jUsT dReAm! ThIs IsN't FaIr! No We'Re NoT jUsT wHaT wE sEem!"
  I open a portal to BirdTale and lead everyone through. "We WaNt To FlY bUt OuR SOULS ArE tRaPpEd InSiDe!"
  By now Bird has joined the group. "What's going on? Why is Error singing and going through the Multiverse?"
  Hearts speaks up. "U-Um. Fatal!Error g-got Nightmare a-and when Error h-heard the n-news he nearly h-had a breakdown b-but singing t-this song h-helps him vent w-without hurting a-anyone."
  Bird nods and goes back to watching Error sing, getting emotional himself.
  I open a portal and lead everyone to ChanceTale, noticing Ace join the group in the process. "It'S nOt A gAmE! nOt To BlAmE! wE'rE fOrCeD tO hIdE! jUsT sLeEp! JuSt DrEaM!"
  "iT's OnLy A nIgHtMaRe AnD sOoN wE'lL bE sEt FrEe~" I sigh and open a portal to AbyssTale, causing Abyss to join us. AbyssTale is still a white void but Abyss nearly has every Elemental Orb needed to restore it.
"AnD i'M cRyIn' OuT fOr HeLp~ I kNoW i'M bLiNd BuT i MeAn WeLl~ CaN yOu SeE mY dIsGuIsE? i'M dIfFeReNt InSiDe. CaN yOu BreAk ThIs SpElL?"
  I open a portal to GhostTale and Fade joins us, floating by Dream. "NoW tHe GhOsTs FrOm BeFoRe~ ThEy'Re KnOcKiNg AnD bReAkiNg DoWn ThE dOoR~"
I open a portal to FarmTale and Farmer joins us. "So PlEaSe SeT uS fReE." I open a portal to UnderKeep and Jester joins us. "NoW yOu HaVe ThE kEy. CaUsE i CaN't TaKe ThE pAiN nO mOrE!
I open a portal to LittleTale and Sansy joins us, bringing Papy with him thinking it's an adventure. Well. Papy thinks it's an adventure. Sansy knows the real reason. "We'Re OnLy KidS wHo LosT oUr WaY! bUt If We WaIt LoNg EnOuGh We WiLl Be SaVeD!"
I open a portal to DreamTale and lead everyone to the long abandoned village, starting on the opposite end from the Tree of Feelings and working my way to the now visibly long dead Tree of Feelings, singing along the way.
"JuSt SlEeP! jUsT dReAm! ThIs IsN't FaIr! No We'Re NoT jUsT wHaT wE sEeM!"
I open a portal to HavenTale and Haven joins us. "We WaNt To FlY bUt OuR SOULS ArE tRaPpEd InSiDe!" I open a portal to Under**** and Devil, Under**** Sans joins us. "It'S nOt A gAmE! nOt To BlAmE! We'Re FoRcEd To HiDe!"
I open a portal to Hate's domain and Hate joins us. "JuSt SlEeP! jUsT dReAm! It'S oNlY a NiGhTmArE aNd SoOn We'Ll bE sEt FrEe!"
I open a portal to the mansion and see both Geno and Dream are now awake. "We'Re OnLy KiDs WhO lOsT oUr WaY! bUt If We WaIt LoNg EnOuGh We WiLl Be SaVeD! jUsT sLeEp! JuSt DrEaM! tHiS iSn'T fAiR! nO wE'rE nOt JuSt WhAt We SeEm! We WaNt To FlY bUt OuR SOULS ArE tRaPpEd InSiDe!"
"It'S nOt A gAmE! nOt To BlAmE! wE'rE fOrCeD tO hIdE! jUsT sLeEp! JuSt DrEaM! It'S oNlY a NiGhTmArE! aNd SoOn We'Ll Be SeT fReE~"
Geno sighed. "Error come here and sit on the couch please." He moves over behind the couch he wants Error to sit on.
I reluctantly go over and sit down, feeling Geno put his hands on my shoulders and start giving me a massage. Since I'm not in the mood I start trying to swat Geno's hands away.
Dream, or rather Shattered goes over and wraps a tentacle around Error, preventing him from moving. "Sorry Error. But you need to relax. Being this stressed will just cause an episode. Oh. And it's Shattered now in this form."
I growl at Shattered, not happy as Geno starts massaging my shoulders again. I can't help but give in after about 15 minutes and give a small hum of contentment. I will admit Geno knows how to help me relax. And the tentacle rubbing my spine relaxes me even further.
Geno lets Shattered do the work on Error's back after he's relaxed enough they have to lay him down, still working on the shoulders.
I'm starting to get tired. Geno's doing a number on my shoulders and all the tension is loose. Shattered is rubbing my spine and it's all I can do not to stretch myself out all the way. But, of course, I stretch out all the way, giving Shattered full access which he takes advantage of.
Soon, someone starts humming Pan's Labyrinth Lullaby. I notice and relax even more, yawning. I could do this every night if it finally gets me peaceful sleep.
Everyone in the room notices and smiles, glad to see Error not only calmed down but also relaxed.
I don't know when but I end up falling asleep. It's hard to tell time when you're tired and relaxed.
Geno and Shattered continue for about 15 minutes before stopping, Geno stroking Error's skull until he too falls asleep.
All is well. For now.
