A Fatal Error

Chapter 6

  Nightmare groans as he wakes up to something shocking. He has his senses back and he's not in pain! But how? He doesn't dare look around in case Fatal!Error punishes him again.
  Ink notices and goes over. "Hey there! Took you a while! Gosh! Sorry! I'm being inconsiderate! Oops!" He nervously chuckles and scratches the back of his skull.
  Nightmare screams in fear and falls off the couch, yelping when pain shoots through his body as he curls up into a ball, whimpering and crying.
  The noise is enough to wake Shattered up. Thankfully he's one of the least injured so after getting over his initial confusion he rushes to use his aura to calm Nightmare down. "What did Fatal!Error do to him?"
  Ink sighs. "I don't know Shattered. All I know is the injuries inflicted on him were severe. The only reason Nightmare wasn't dust was because Fatal!Error used his strings to stitch Nightmare back together."
"But Error is also severely injured. Fatal!Error ripped all of his limbs in half then poorly stitched them back together."
Shattered frowns as he puts Nightmare back on the couch he was on before he fell off. "We have to call a meeting. We can't go on like this."
Nightmare curls up into a ball, passed out again. At least he looks semi peaceful in his sleep. Although now he definitely has PTSD and major haphephobia.
Blue groans, opening his eye sockets, vision blurry. "Ugh...My head...What happened...? My skull feels like I was hit by my hammer..." He sits up and looks around, taking note of his surroundings and all the other blurry figures. After a few minutes he's able to see them clearly.
  Shattered traps Blue in a gentle hug, Ink standing in the corner. He normally joins in the hugs but after everything he's done he feels he doesn't deserve to. Blue and Dream have found better than me. They don't need me anymore. I should just leave.
  With that thought Ink makes a portal to the Doodle Sphere, closing it behind him, leaving behind a confused yet sad pair of skeletons.

  Everyone but Error's awake but that's understandable. Error did take severe damage and trauma all at once. Right now they're discussing how to help Nightmare.
  "W-We could t-try talking t-to him." Hearts adds, speaking for the first time this entire conversation.
  Horror notices Hearts nervousness and carefully places a comforting hand on his shoulder. "That's not a bad idea. But that will have to wait a bit. Nightmare's too scared. We have to ease him into talking and getting used to us. It'll probably take a while."
  Dust nods in agreement. "But for now we should get him calmed down again. Any ideas?"
  The Bad Sanses and Nova Sanses think for a few minutes until Phenex pipes up. "I heard you guys have a lullaby or two. Maybe try one of those."
  Shattered smiles. "That's a great idea Phenex! Thanks!"
  Phenex reluctantly gives Shattered a "Your welcome" before returning to his own devices, no longer interested in the conversation.
  "But who's the best singer? And by best I mean the one with the most soothing voice singing a lullaby." Killer says, eye lights faintly showing from how strong his worry is.
  "Normally Nightmare and Error. But Nightmare's in no shape and Error's still passed out." Cross says, X nodding in agreement beside him although no one can see him.
  Shattered thinks for a moment. "I think I can try. I used to sing Nightmare to sleep whenever he would get nightmares. Despite him being older by a few seconds." He goes over to Nightmare and slowly spreads his aura, resulting in everyone in the room, the awake ones, feeling calm.
Shattered waits for everyone to be calm before he starts singing. "The other night dear, as I lay sleeping. I dreamed I held you in my arms. But when I awoke, dear, I was mistaken. So I hung my head and I cried."
  "You are my sunshine. My only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey~ You'll never know dear, how much I love you. Please don't take~ my sunshine away~"
  "You told me once, dear, you really loved me. And no one else could come between~ But now you've left me and love another. You have shattered all of my dreams."
  "You are my sunshine. My only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey~ You'll never know dear, how much I love you. Please don't take~ my sunshine away~"
  "In all my dreams, dear, you seem to leave me. When I awake my poor heart pains~ So when you come back and make me happy~ I'll forgive you dear. I'll take all the blame."
  "You are my sunshine. My only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey~ You'll never know dear, how much I love you. Please don't take~ my sunshine away~"
  Shattered opens his eye socket, not realizing he had closed it, to find everyone asleep, thankfully including Nightmare. He chuckles and teleports everyone except Error and Nightmare to their rooms and sits on one of the couches facing Nightmare and Error.
  His intent is to stay up and guard everyone but his body has other plans. Sleep is calling to him and despite him trying to fight it he falls asleep, slumping over on his side.
  Ink sighs, having opened a viewing portal to watch what was going on. "At least he's happy with them. That just proves my point even more..." He closes the viewing portal and puts his head on his knees, closing his eye sockets, trying his best to hold back his tears.
  It doesn't work and Ink starts crying, no one around to comfort the sad creator resulting in him crying for hours before eventually falling asleep.
  "My poor Ink. Rest now. I'll see to it your destiny is good."
