After we finished the song everybody cheered as the rest of the dancers and band went to mingle around, leaving me with Caleb. We came behind the guys and heard what they were saying.
-Told you, the guy's got skills- Willie said, probably talking about Caleb.
-So where'd he go?- Reggie asks. As soon as he said that we stood right behind them- Oh wow! Found him! Ha!- he obviously got startled.
-Hello, boys. Caleb Covington. Welcome to the Hollywood Ghost Club, I know you've met the lovely Mackenzie Montez- I just smiled at them and at how excited they were- Enjoying the show?
-Yo, that was... I mean... Did you... Like- Luke tried to say.
-I know- Caleb said very proud.
-Right?-Luke finished.
-This is Alex, Luke, and Reggie- Willie introduced
-Yeah, it's really nice to meet you- Alex says.
-'Sup?- it's all Reggie said, which made me giggle.
-The pleasure it's mine. Nothing warms my heart more than sharing this magic with new friends, isn't that right Mack?- Caleb says and I nod and he gives me a quick side hug, which made Luke's face look little mad but as soon as that came it went.- Please, sit. Sit.- As Caleb's says this, one of the waiters brings us two chairs.
-Uh, thank you for the invite.- Alex tells him.
-Of course. Of course!- Caleb answers as he gives a look- Now, my friend Willie tells me that you boys have some magic of your own- He says and looks at Alex.
After a moment of silence Alex clears his throat and starts talking- Well- he says pointing at Willie- Willie and I?- he looks very nervous. He thinks Caleb was talking about the magic between them which really amused me and Willie seemed very calm- I mean, I wouldn't really call it magic, but, I mean...- that's when Willie realized what Alex was rambling about.
-Oh no, he means your ghost abilities. You know, like, to be seen by everybody when you play with Julie- he explains to him while the rest of the boys just looked at them a little confused, and boy was I going to make fun of Willie for that. And who's Julie?
-No, totally- Alex says understanding- Right, no- he says pointing at Caleb and then at his head- 'Cause when you said it, I was like, "Is that what he said?" 'Cause- Caleb just made a gesture with his hand like it was okay. I gave Willie a look and wiggled my eyebrows which made him blush a little.
- Yeah, but we can't really, uh, wave our arms and do all this magic stuff.- Luke says trying to say despite the little awkwardness. I just laughed.
-Well, Caleb's had some practice- I said gaining their attention, Luke gave a little smile.
-That's right. Our gifts are so rare, so special- Caleb says- It's not often I come across other spirits who possess similar talents. It's no surprise we found each other. Me and Mackenzie would know about that- he finishes, the boys gave a quick look not knowing what that meant.
-Yeah, that definitely...- Luke left the sentence in the air, as all the guys in the table smiled.
-If you'll forgive me, fellas, Mackenzie, I gotta go pay the bills, if you know what I'm saying. I'll be back later to chat.- He pads Alex and me on the shoulders and leaves, the three guys follow him with their eyes looking amused by him as he says hello to one of the girls here.
-I love that dude. Please tell me this party's never gonna end- Reggie says, only if he knew.
- Well, I'll also see you guys later- I say tapping the table and standing up- You guys should check out the place, I think you'll like it- I say giving Luke a wink to which he smiled, then I left to talk to some people. Eventually I ran into Luke.
-Hey, how are you liking the club?- I ask him. He smiled at me.
-It's just... wow- he looked like a kid with a new toy.
-And this guy? The ex bandmate, what's up with that?- I ask vey curious.
-Well, we were all together in Sunset Curve, that's our band, and apparently when we died, he stole all of our lyrics and became this super famous singer or whatever- he said making hand gestures and clearly mad.
-Well, if anyone can help you, it's Caleb- I told him.
-How long have you known him?- he asks me.
-A while, he has helped me a lot- I answer, remembering. Then I look him in the eye.
-And do you like it? This "life"?- he said making air quotes in the word life.
-Is not what I had planned, but when I died I didn't had a purpose, my unsolved business is impossible to get, and then Caleb gave me back a reason to live or whatever, you know what I mean- I tell him.
-I get that, it's the same with Julie, thanks to her and her music, I feel alive again- his eyes sparked when he talked about music or maybe it was because of this Julie girl, it made me a little jealous, not that I had a reason to be.
-Well, I hope you get what you want and word of advice, be careful.- I tell him. Luke looked a little confused by that. Remembering that Caleb asked me to keep an eye on them I keep talking- But anyways, maybe we can hang out sometime or something, outside here.- to that he smiled.
In that moment I saw Willie standing up from where he was sitting with Alex and I told Luke I had to go talk to Willie, so I intercept him and Luke went to talk to Alex.
-Hey, you owe me a dance- I tell Willie, he smiles.
-That I do, c'mon-he says as he gives me his hand, I take his hand and go. As we are leaving Willie winks at Alex, who blushes, and I elbow him playfully as we enter the dance floor. As we're dancing I can see Caleb talking to the guys.
After a little dancing, Caleb comes up to us. And he signals me to walk with him. I leave Willie and star talking with Caleb.
-What do you know about this band of theirs? With the girl- he asks me.
-Not much more than you, but they do seem to really like that girl, they seem to enjoy to play with her, Luke said it was like being alive again- I inform him.
-Yeah, I get that too. Talk to them, stay close, I want them in, wathever the cost, but for now, let's keep the show going-he told me, giving me a very specific look.
-On it-I tell him teleporting back to the stage.
