Chapter 28- A date

The noise of the key being pushed on the rough surface of the counter caught everyones attention. "Lilith, here's the key." Without any questions Lilith put Ethan's room key back in it's place and went deep into the book she had been reading ever since breakfast.

Everyone in the room, who were busy doing their own things, looked between Ethan and me.

"What's going on?" Maia broke the silence,

"Apparently, they are dating now." Lilith spoke for me.

"Oh okay," Maia smirked and Harry's gaze shifted from me to Maia.

Chris rolled his eyes, not showing any emotion.

Jake gave me a pleasant smile before leaving, "I have to leave for work."

I waved Jake goodbye.

"Ida, sleep early today, you'll need that energy tomorrow." Chris looked over at Ethan, and I just knew he said it to get a reaction out of him.

A few hours back, Ethan and I had informed them of my dad's 'little' tattoo.

They felt uncomfortable knowing who they were getting involved with. But Chris had plans, he never intended to do anything without getting something in return.

Chris sent everyone except Ethan and I out of the room, "You do know that we won't do it, right?"

I sighed, "yes."

"Unless..." he trailed off.

I urged for him to continue, "Unless... I get something in return."

"Like what?" Ethan chimed in before Chris got too close to me.

"Nothing much. Just a date with Ida." Chris looked into Ethan's furious eyes. His temper boiling and fist tight.

"NO!" Ethan shouted loud and clear causing me to flinch. He supported me by putting an arm around my waist.

"Why not?"

"Because the person you're asking a date with, is mine."

"You aren't even together."

"We are."

Chris quirked at the words that left my mouth sleekly, sounding like music and tasting like honey.

"Well, well. Look what happened. The lonely boy is not so lonely anymore," After a brief moment he continued, "but... it's your choice Ida. Its your mother we are talking about."

Ethan tilted sideways... we both knew the answer...

"Ok-ay," I hesitated and Ethan's face fell.

"After the charity event. Just~you~and~me." He said in a singsong and walked out the room, breaking Ethan's arm from around me.

"So, we need to dress up in order to look appropriate when we go to the jweler." I summed everything up.

"Yes! But also remember that if they ask for a certificate for verification, just tell that you inherited it from your late parents after turning eighteen." Harry added just before Lilith and I zoomed off on the bike.

"Where are we going." I ask Lilith through the microphone in the helmet.

"A store near by. It sells good clothes for cheap."

"Oh-" I say, least expecting an answer from Lilith.

"Hey Lilith,"

"Yea?"

"Do you hate me?"

"No," she answered.

"Then, do you not like me?"

"Nothing like that. Why?"

"It's just-" I sigh, "Chris seems to hate Ethan, and you don't really..."

"Ethan was the one that brought us all together. It was around... three years back that it happened?"

I carefully listen as to what she had to say.

"I was not a member at that time, but had heard from Chris. They were doing their usual job... working for someone."

"Didn't they stop working for people?"

"Yes. After the incident. I don't know the details but there was a big fight within the group."

"Oh- thanks." Lilith took a quick turn and we arrived at the small shop that stood put from its surroundings.

"Don't judge it so soon." Lilith warned.

Just as we entered, we met with a man leaning on the table.

"Hi Lilith!" A smile creeped up on his face.

"Hi!" Lilith tucked at a strand of her green dyed hair.

"And you brought a friend." The guy welcomed me in as well.

Lilith scrambled across the shop and picked up a few dresses that fit her.

"That one suits you." The guy told Lilith as she looked at herself in the mirror, placing the dress in front.

"Whatever." Regardless of her answer, Lilith bought the dress.
