Vivid green eyes stared expectantly back at Poppy as Christina waited for the brunette to answer.
Poppy's face flattened, "To bloody hell with it, let's do it." She mumbled.
Christina flounced off from where she was sitting and pulled Poppy along with her.
Poppy threw once last longing look over her shoulder towards the star scattered sky before the tall, concrete arches took their place and they were inside.
"Now, where are the kitchens?" Christina whispered.
"...You want to raid the kitchen and you don't even know where the kitchen is?" Poppy blanched under her breath.
Christina stuck her tongue out impishly, "You lead the way, Miss Brit." She said ruefully.
"Well, if we don't want to be caught and thrown into detention for the first three weeks of school, I suggest we take our flats off. Since we have socks on we won't make any noise." Poppy instructed.
She daintily hooked her finger behind her heel of her shoe and slipped her foot out of her back flat, and did the same with the other. Christina followed as she was told to do.
Poppy looked at her companion for allowance to start to move and the blonde grinned. They began walking against the cobbled wall with no candles in hopes that their shadows wouldn't be long. After a few minutes, the girls were able to curl their feet in to curb the rest of the padding noises that echoed from their feet.
Poppy was concentrating on figuring out the next turn for the stairs that led down to the basement where the kitchen was. She turned towards her Slytherin friend and paused in utter confusion.
Christina was a little behind her, her back pressed against the wall and she was sliding her feet instead of walking. She had her hands clasped in front of her face with her two pointer fingers up and the most serious look adorned on her face.
When they made eye contact Christina uttered one word, "Ninja."
Poppy mimicked her hands and said, "Stairs. Now."
Christina's posture broke as she silently skidded over to her, "Oh."
They got onto the moving stairs and waited for it to shift. Once it started moving they began to quickly walk down the stairs. The stairs had barely landed when the girls were off the moving staircase and onto the lower floor of Hogwarts.
"Before we move any further, we need to keep in mind of Mr. Filch and his stupid cat, Mrs. Norris. If we hear any footsteps, move to the nearest room and sit down." Poppy warned airily.
Christina nodded once and they began walking again. The hallway leading to spiral staircase by the kitchen was close and both girls were hoping the man wasn't doing his routine inspection in the basement at that time.
Once the staircase was in sight, Poppy and Christina high tailed it. They skidded around the corner of the beginning of the stairs and began to race down the spiral staircase. At the end of the staircase Christina went to quietly move to the hallway when Poppy stopped her. Poppy peeked her head around the archway and when she saw no one come from either side of the hallway, she dropped her hand from in front of Christina and began walking towards the kitchen.
They passed the doorway to the Hufflepuffs and prayed no one heard them before the large, wooden doors of the kitchen came into view. Poppy pressed her ear to the door and listened.
I don't hear anything.. She thought and slowly opened the door.
Once it was wide enough from them to slip inside, they went to the nearest cabinets and opened it.
Christina's face broke into a grin, "Brownies!" She whispered excitedly.
"Take one from the back, they'll notice ones from the front." Poppy advised as she took a few cut out fudges next to the brownies.
The blonde nodded, "Smart, smart." She complimented as she took a few of the brownies from the back of the cabinet.
"What time do you think it is?" Poppy asked as she closed the cabinet.
Christina took a bite out of the brownie, "Um, midnight would be my guess." She said between chewing.
"We better hurry back, I've got a riddle to solve." Poppy said.
Christina opened the kitchen door and threw a grin over her shoulder, "Lead the way."
