A/N: I think you guys might be upset when you read this chapter because some kissing happens with Ash... And its not Eric! But don't worry! I'm not going to be one of those fast movers for their relationship! It will be good though promise!
"Listen up! Gather around initiates! My name is Max, and this is Eric. We're some of the leaders of your new faction." I winced as soon as I heard "the leaders." I mentally slap myself for that. You are normal! You belong here! No one is going to stop you! "...So someone has to go first....So who's it going to be?"
"I'll go!" Without thinking I stride up to the ledge, step onto it, and confidently leap into the air. I twirl in the air laughing. The looks on their faces were priceless. I gasp, shocked as soon as I came in contact with something, hard, startling me a little bit. Giggles started to pour out of me. Strong hands tug on the net, and next thing I know I'm set on the ground. I look up at the man.
"Name?" I stared at him, not knowing what to say. "Do you seriously not know your own name Amity?" I glare at him.
"I am well aware of what it is. It's Ash."
He stared at me bewildered. But after a few seconds he called out "First Jumper Ash!" I grin as I walk to the side awaiting the other initiates.

As soon as everyone was off the net, the man that took me off the net started to speak. "Listen up, initiates! I'm Four! And beside me is..." Four pauses and notices the girl beside me smirking. I elbow her in the ribs, and she looks at me like I'm insane. I glance at Four and she got the message. She mouthed a "thanks" and I nodded, smiling. "Beside me is Lauren. She will be training the Dauntless borns. I'm taking the transfers. Let's go." The initiates all stare at their feet. I roll my eyes and start following Four. They begin to follow with me. The girl that I had just elbowed ran up to me.
"Hey, I'm Christina. But you can call me Chris."
"Okay, Chris. I'm Ash."
"Hey." She smiles at me, and I return it. I was about to say something to Chris when Four began to speak again.
"This is the pit. As you can see... It is the heart of Dauntless. You'll love it." I can feel someone's gaze on me. Once my eyes lock with Eric's, I scowl. He just smirked at me. I rolled my eyes showing my annoyance, and quickly looked to Four. Four starts to walk, and so do I. He leads us down a couple dark halls and to a large gray room with beds (more like cots) placed all over the room. I counted twelve...but their is eleven of us... Pain overtook my face as the female shriek of terror ringed in my ears yet again. I look down at my feet desperate for a distraction. A single, hot tear fell down my cheek.
Maybe, I don't belong here. I should have never left my sister. I'm going to die here. I think, in a way, I knew that coming here. Theres no way of escaping it. If the simulation rumors are true, that their apart of my second stage of testing, I'm screwed. I look up and meet the cold, gray eyes studying me. I keep eye contact with him, refusing to back down. A thudding sensation is going on in my chest. I've seen those dark, mysterious gray eyes before... You couldn't mistake them with anyone else's...
"Ash? Hello?"
"Hmm?"
"Pay attention!" Four scowled at me harshly. I look back to where Eric was standing to see that he has left the room. "Get changed into your new Dauntless clothing. Find the appropriate clothes for your fitting. I really hope you can do that by yourselves." He smirked at everyone, and only glared in my direction. I sigh and take the last bed left in between two boys, a candor, and an Erudite. As I got changed the Candor's eyes wandered over my body while I uncomfortably changed next to him.
"Take one more look Candor, and I'll blind you." I threw him an icy glare along with my old Amity clothing I had just changed out of, but he just winked at me. I begin to walk out of the room when I feel a hand on my waist, next thing I know lips are crashed against mine and I'm surprisingly kissing back. I look up at the Candor boy blushing. He just winked at me. I started to awkwardly walk towards the dining hall.
-
I walked through the line grabbing food carelessly ending up with a hamburger and chocolate cake and bottled water to drink. I looked around at the cafeteria bustling with people. My eyes lock on the woman's I haven't seen in ten years. The woman I had adored until she sent me away. The only girl I had, since I had two brothers. Her confused expression says it all. She didn't even know I was here. She started to get up from her seat, and I frantically looked for somewhere to sit. I saw Chris wave me over, then my eyes met with Malia's, but I knew it was better than talking to my mother who could care less about me. I storm over to the table, and slam my tray down. I fall into my chair, the confusion and anger boiling up inside me. I stare at my food and start to eat it as fast as I can. I've got to get out of here. I notice Four, Chris, and Malia are all looking at me worriedly. I hadn't even felt the tears soaking my face. I couldn't take it anymore. I was about to get up when hands clamp down on my shoulders. I hold in a breath. I look at Malia desperately. She mouths "Eric." I remain my calm self. Begging with my eyes to Four to somehow get him to leave.
"So Four... Who are the new initiates?"
"Umm this is Malia, Chris, and Ash." Four glanced at my worried expression. "You, uhh, need something Eric?"
"Actually, yeah. A word with Ash here is all." I froze, and stopped breathing. He must've realized this, and he started to laugh. "I'm serious, Ash. Let's go." Stay calm. He doesn't know anything yet, he couldn't. I calmly get up from the table holding in the urge to punch him in the face, and then walk out of the dining hall. "Max is watching you." I stop walking and whirl around to look at Eric.
"Why?"
"Lets just say, he finds you interesting... Maybe even leader type. If your first ranked initiate that is."
I scoffed at his remark. "No way in hell would I EVER be someone like you or him." I stop breathing, hoping to God he didn't hear that. A moment later my head connects with a dark concrete wall. I grit my teeth. "What was that, Amity?"
I gather up my courage. "You heard me." I bring up my knee and connect it with his private. Then taking his weak moment to shove him to the ground, giving me enough time to sprint away. I run into a tall figure. I look up to see a scowling face, and once the face meets mine his gaze softens. He grabs my face in his hands and crashes his lips onto mine. We move in sync like this had happened many times before. "Peter, by the way." He stated in between pull-aways. Once the kiss was over I looked at him smiling.
"Ash."
"Oh, I know." He said smirking and I elbow him in the ribs.
"Ouch." He said mocking me. He grabbed my hand and intertwined our hands and laced our fingers together. I think I may actually like Candor's now...
