Chapter 1: Mee-Yon

How long have I been running? Well, I wish I could answer that myself.

Mee-Yon
"*huff huff*"

I've been running in the forest for quite some time. I couldn't tell if it was day or night.

Mee-Yon
"Oof!!!"

I fell. Well, it's obvious when I look at the bundle of large tree trunk roots beside me.

I tried to stand up; however, I accidentally twisted my ankle in the process.

Mee-Yon
"Gah! Kch...!"

I wrapped my hand around my ankle, but in doing so, a ghostly voice echoed as the forest suddenly turned foggy.

"Mee-Yon... Mee-Yon...."

Mee-Yon
"*groan* Geez...!"

???
"Please... don't run away."
"You don't have to be afraid, Mee-Yon."

I mustered the last remaining strength I have left and ran with a tired yet annoyed voice.

Mee-Yon
"I already am!!!"

For a moment, I find myself leaning on a tree.

Mee-Yon
"*wince in pain*"

Mee-Yon *thinking*
(Hopefully... it didn't follow me here.)

I thought to myself while holding my injured ankle. It took me a moment to close my eyes and take a few deep breaths to regain my composure towards the strange situation I'm in.

Once I calmed myself, I opened my eyes.

But... something didn't feel right.

"Mee-Yon..."

Mee-Yon
"!!"

I pressed my back against the tree and looked at my surroundings, paranoid. However, there was nothing within the foggy forest.

Mee-Yon
"Who are you?! What are you?!"

Strangely, the voice didn't answer me. I waited for it to say something, but for some time, it didn't.

Irritated, I yelled.

Mee-Yon
"Why are you bothering me?! What did I ever do to you?!"

As if I was saying the magic words, the voice replied.

"You didn't forget our promise, haven't you, Mee-Yon?"

Mee-Yon *thinking*
(Promise?)

Mee-Yon
"What are you talking abou--"

Thump thump!

My heart thumped, and my body froze as a sudden rush of pain began to throb my head.

Mee-Yon
"Argh!"

I clutched my head at the unexpected ache.

"Please... don't forget..."
"Never...forget..."

Mee-Yon
"Never forget what?! Forget what?!"

"Dearest one..."
"Never forget who you truly are..."

My vision suddenly became black as I collapsed on the floor, not feeling the pain on my ankle and my head.

Within the darkness, I saw a familiar pink and yellow heterochromia eyes glowing, staring at me.
