UNKNOWN : A Ghoul's Diary

04: 9th April

"HOLD THEM OFF!"

"WE NEED A MEDIC HERE FAST!"

"GET TEAM ALPHA HERE ASAP!"

"MORE ARE COMING STAND BY!"

"AIM FOR THEIR KAGUNE!"

The HQ was under attack. Investigators running up and down the building, some were holding numerous ghouls from entering and some were already injured from the ghouls who had already accessed the main entrance minutes ago.

No one saw this coming, not even Jieun herself. Surely this wasn't planned ahead of time.

Jieun was all over the place, looking for a particular someone.

"I shouldn't have asked Yeonbin to get the papers danm it"

She started cussing to herself because not only that the building was attacked, she had also risked her friend's life. 

She rushed upstairs dodging the other investigators running down. What was the use of the elevator if it was too slow, finally stairs being more useful for once she thaught.

On the 4th floor, she runs to her office.

A male figure could be seen clenching a white cloth over his left injured leg on the floor.

"Oh no- Yeonbin are you alright?!?!"

"It's just a cut... I got him though."

Yeonbin points at a lifeless body infront of them. It was a corpes of a ghoul.

Surely he was dead, Jieun couldn't sense the ghoul's presence in the first place.

"Another one headed to the rooftop, a female. Most probably his wife."

Jieun was beyond worried for her friend, but it was now her duty to go after the ghoul.

"I'll be right back."

She took her weapon from a nearby malee closet, a black scythe, made only by technology that can kill ghouls. She runs up more flights of stairs leaving Yeonbin attending his own injuries while the medics could arrive.

There, she stood, only with a scythe in hand, on the rooftop, with no ghoul insight. She's planning an ambush. It was obvious to her, clearly.

The sound of footsteps followed behind her as they kept on getting louder. The ghoul was quick, but not as quick as Jieun was, Jieun dodged the ghoul's kagune.

Now, it was just Jieun dodging all the attacks the ghoul threw at her. It went like this for about 10 minutes. Jieun gave the ghoul a smirk.

"H-how are you so fast?!"

"Oh please, you're not even trying."

It was then the ghoul realised.

"Y-you're a traitor! How can you stand next to these monsters killing your own kind?! Show me your kagune!"

Jieun wasn't phased at all, since the rooftop didn't have any security cameras (which it should), it wasn't a problem to hold back.

Her eyes turning jet black with her irises glowing blood red, veins decorating the sides of her eyes, she was in her 'ghoul-mode'.

"I'm gonna make this quick, but I'm also going to make this painful for you."

"Where is she?"

"She went to the rooftop."

"Alone?"

"You know her sir, she doesn't really need back up."

Mr. Song was now sitting across the room from Yeonbin who was getting his leg wrapped with bandages. It was awkward, yes, but they could agree on one thing. The situation the HQ was facing sucked.

The attacks stoped, no investigators were killed, only a few ghoul corpses that needed identifying.

Both males waited for Jieun to return, knowing a good reason to not come to the rooftop in fear of distracting Jieun.

It wasn't long when they finally saw Jieun exiting a nearby elevator. They were glad she wasn't dead of course.

"Ms. Park, I'm glad that you are-"

Mr. Song froze, followed by Yeonbin covering his mouth, trying not to throw up over the sight they were witnessing.

Jieun was in one piece, no fatal injuries. Her left hand held her scythe, covered in red, while in her right....

A ghoul's head.

"Special delivery for investigator, Mr. Lee Yeonbin."

She had a grin on her face as she jokingly shaked the head she held in front of Yeonbin.

"That's gross Jieuniee."

"You've seen worst, how are you grossed out by this?"

Mr. Song could only sigh at his two top investigators. He instructed Jieun to send the head to the forensics office for furthur identification, making sure she doesn't freak the rest of the team out.

After that, both of them cleaned themselves up and were free to go home, while also getting a few days off of work.

"I can't believe you decapitated a ghoul."

"I can't believe you still can enjoy a can of beer in this state."

The two jokingly giving each other insults as they walked to the nearest bus station.

"I'll be back."
