Drifting off to sleep she took one last look around her environment, the sounds of birds singing and the sun reflecting off the car window; with the mix of the a.c. on full blast calming her, further; thereon. R&B music and Blues gratuitous to her, but serves as a white noise to bring her in deeper fading a way to the high-pitched notes of the singer prolonges into her head..
"Honey it's time to wake up! We're home." She hears. "Shaking her head silently, but begrudgingly getting up, ready to, and welcoming of the apartment complex she's grown to tolerate, but as soon as she gets up...
! ...
"w-where am I?" she exclaims, looking onward to see daylight, and A forest with a strong smell of nature, apple wood and hickory, as well as pine closing in watching, as if stalking her as she approached the abandoned looking house in the clearance.
Black, brown, and what is now known an off white color on the porch steps, and a symmetrically perfect yet natural design of the clearance, that should be calming, but yet gives her a sudden sling of anxiety.
She barely starts knocking on the door, as woman, of whom has torn old clothing, seemingly from the 1930's opens the door.
" It's like those Big mama's you see in cartoons." Serena thought to herself. "well hello there sugah! why won't you come inside and I'll give you a bite to eat. " The elderly woman greeted,"know you're hungry!"She seems to know me oddly enough. I guess It will be rude to pass her up." She thinks as she follows the mysterious lady inside. look at-cha, snooping around togeta whiff of this pot pie i set at the window. She says laughing coyly, her voice high and fragile, yet booming in the air in strength.
a moment passes, as Serena patiently listens to her stories and looks around to her new surroundings "such uncomfortable emotions, hun... don't be so serious..take a breather." The elderly woman says as she interrupts her thoughts "N-No it's not that at all ma'am the pie is good.. but I have noticed you haven't eaten."
"ah, honey I'd rather watch you kids enjoy it. my tastes been long gone. only one thing really taste good to me. "and what is that Ms. English" Serena asks, "Don't worry about that, just focus on eating and fattening yourself up sweet!" She says as she walks towards a record player, swaying smoothly to the beat, almost hypnotically.
" Wow, for an old woman, she moves pretty fast." The girl thought to herself, I can barely see her feet shuffle in such a long dress." suddenly she stops and smiles, rubbing Serena's hair and sitting back down.
"This music, just makes me feel uneasy emotions..such things that aren't serious, but aren't pleasant." the type of thing you feel when you just wanna go to a family member or good friend and give them a strong hug...
The elderly woman starts to interrupt her "only to realize their lifeless eyes" she says as she stares off.
Oh? Did you lose someone. I'm so sorry for your..
! ...
Gripping her shoulders the old woman stared off into Serena's eyes, bordering painful for her.
" Their unendingly cold stare into the ceiling of the room as their skin suddenly turn pale, a vast and almost instant cold feeling across your own skin that is in contact with their own." "L-let go, it hurts! please!" Serena says in vain.
"Such a dreadful realization of what you know happened Serena." What you know for a fact the cause of them being in a permanent state now..
"You know damn well, Serena what u caused, why stay in a constant state in denial, then?"
..You did this..
...and you know it...
May God have mercy on you, Serena....
