Summary: Niall knew that New York traffic was crazy, but he didn't know the people were just as bad.
Disclaimer: This one shot was inspired from an event a couple days ago, where Niall was mobbed in a taxi in New York. I couldn't help but make my own little story out of it, so I hope you all enjoy!
‘Traffic is horrid guys, but NYC is absolutely amazing!’
Niall posted the tweet before tucking his phone away, turning and looking out the window with a sigh.
He was on his way to meet the boys back at their hotel after visiting a cousin across town. Though he knew that New York traffic was bad, he didn’t know it was this extreme, and the way things were moving now, he wasn’t likely to get to the hotel anytime soon.
“My niece is a big fan of you guys,” the cab driver said in a thick New York accent, peering at Niall through the rearview mirror.
Niall couldn’t help but smile at that. “Really?” He said. “Well tell her I said hello then. I’d love to give her an autograph or something.”
The cab driver grinned in return. “Hey, thanks!” He said, seeing surprised that Niall would so easily do such a thing. “I’m sure she’ll really appreciate it.”
Hearing that, Niall only nodded before looking back out the window. Big cities had always amazed him, even still so with being all the places they had been. County Westmeath definitely wasn’t a big place by any means, nor was it completely rural, but compared to places like London and New York, it sure seemed it.
Niall admired the towering skyscrapers for a moment before he thought of something to ask the cab driver. But when he turned in his seat to say something, he came face to face with a girl.
Niall widened his eyes as he took in this girl sitting beside him, looking as if she had just run a mile. Her hair was a bleached blonde color, nearly white, and framed around her face in curly, thin ringlets. She was wearing a thick, bulky coat that matched the weather, and it moved up and down rapidly from her heavy breathing.
Was this another fangirl who had crazily decided to find him in all this traffic and try to snog him in the backseat? Niall wasn’t sure, but he was careful to keep distance between them.
“Oh,” is what she said when Niall gave her a disbelieving look. “Sorry.”
She acted as if this were the most casual thing in the world, meeting someone like the famous Niall Horan in a taxi in the middle of standstill traffic in New York.
As Niall watched, speechless, she slid down her seat until she was crouched down on the floor in a huddle.
“What are you doing?” He asked, glancing up at the cab driver and back to the girl on the floor of the cab.
She peered up at him and Niall found himself face to face with stormy grey eyes. “I’m hiding from someone,” she answered simply, shifting to get more comfortable. “Do me a favor, yeah? Look out the right window and tell me if there’s a guy who looks like a wrestler snooping around on the sidewalk?”
