Chapter 1

John's POV

"Everyone, I know its a bit late in the year but we have a new student joining us today! Please introduce yourself."

"Hi! My name's John! I'm looking forward to meeting you all and I hope we can all get along!"

After the lesson ended, a blue haired girl walked up to me, "Hi John! I'm Elaine and welcome to Wellston! How's your first day been so far?"

I felt a slight blush form over my cheeks, "Erm, n-not bad I guess."

"Wonderful! So which school did you transfer from?"

"Ummm, I used to go to a school in New Bostin."

"Woah! That's really far from here! What made you decide to make the switch?"

"Erm, its kind of personal...."

"Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to pry!"

"Don't worry, it's fine."

A slightly malicious smirk replaced Elaine's friendly smile,

"So John,...... what kind of ability do you have?"

The room suddenly became silent, compared to the chatter it was filled with before.

This place is just like the rest of the world, strength defines a person, if you're powerless, you're nothing. 

"My ability's called Aura Manipulation, it allows me to copy and amplify other people's abilities."

"Wow! That sounds really cool! What's your ability level?"

"Uhhh.... I dunno, the last time I had my ability measured by someone was 3 years ago, back then I was only a 3."

"Wow! So you're around my level! Maybe we could--" Elaine glanced at the clock.

"Ah crap! We're gonna be late for second period! But maybe we could sit together during lunch or something, is that okay with you?"

"Sure! See you later!"

We both quickly packed up our things and left in a hurry, I quickly ran to my locker and headed to second period.

Time Skip

Elaine POV

John seemed like a really nice person and I feel like he would get along really well with my other friends, so I invited him over to sit with us during lunch.

"Oh right! Sorry I forgot to introduce you guys! This is John, he's a new student and he just transferred here today! John, that's Remi," I pointed to the girl sitting next to me, she had hair cotton candy-colored hair and red eyes. "she's actually the Queen of Wellston! That's Blyke," I gestured to a boy with red hair and yellow eyes. "he's the Jack, and finally, that's Isen, he's a weirdo."

"Excellent intro, Elaine." Blyke commented giving me a thumbs up.

"Thanks, I try."

"So John, we were going to meet up and go to the mall after school so I was wondering would like you join us?" I asked.

"Yeah sure, that would be really cool."

"Great! Let's meet at the back gates after school."

Remi POV

I glanced at the clock on my phone, Crap, I'm gonna be late!

I broke into a run and slid to a stop at the gates, John, Blyke, and Isen seemed to be arguing about something,

"Siren's Lament? Seriously? You couldn't have gotten an action movie?" Blyke complained.
