Four members of the Dark Brotherhood are left alone in the sanctuary, since everyone else are on contracts. From an unexpected visit, someone brings a mysterious object to the sanctuary.

It's late in the afternoon, with absolutely nothing to do. The only ones who are left in the sanctuary is Babette, Cicero, Kaito, and myself.
Things have been pretty quiet, now that most of us are out on contracts. And let me tell you: the silence is maddening, as Cicero would say it. The quietness of this sanctuary is almost so quiet, even we're all a little awkward.
"Soo... we've being sitting here for the past hour," Babette breaks the gap of silence, her legs crossed on the ground. We're all sitting in a circle, the spot Veezara usually sits at, near the Word Wall. Babette and I are leaning against the rock, and the two guys are sitting across from us.
Cicero groans dramatically, throwing his head back in boredom, purposely falling onto his back. I groan along with him, and now we're all moaning like dead thralls. Kaito looks at us like we've gone mad, and we all giggle.
"Is this what you always do when you all are alone?" Kaito asks us, raising his eyebrow - particularly at me. I groan again.
Babette laughs. "Well, you see Kaito, we're almost never left alone, so we're almost never bored. I mean, it isn't like we we're already bored with the slow business, but this is just plain boring."
"Cicero never thought coming into Skyrim would mean days like this," the jester squeaks, his back still on the ground as he stares up at the ceiling. Babette chuckles, and sighs. "At least this is safer than Cyrodiil."
Almost all of them are doing contracts by the Reach, so they'll all most likely return at the same times. Astrid has been so serious of being den mother, we all know handing her a contract would lift her spirits.
There's tapping on from the door, echoing here, but we don't hear it due to the waterfall. Kaito, though, hears these noises, and glance to the stairs.
"There's some sort of knocking on the door," he tells us, asking what he should do.
"Like what sort of knocking?" I reply.
He gives me a weird stare, and blinks. "...knocking."
My shoulders fall a little, following with my annoyed expression. "If it's casual knocking, then it's probably a stupid hunter that happened to wander here. If it's not, it means Shadowmere needs something, he does this little pattern."
"Like Astrid?"
"Like Astrid," Babette chips in, chuckling. "Now, you two go check, maybe this is an excuse to be alone together."
I shoot a glare to the vampire before jogging up the stairs and to the Black Door, bringing a carrot with me. I'm surprised none of them took Shadowmere, they probably all took carriages, since they're going to the same hold. He must be annoyed because of that.
We open the door. No Shadowmere. I guess they did take him out.
"Are you sure you heard knocking?" I ask him, furrowing my eyebrows. He nods, scanning the area.
He parts his lips, about to say something. Then, he stares in front of us. "What do you want, Sanguine?"
A portal appears before us, the purple border indicating something is being conjured. Once his entrance disappears, out comes a man dressed in black robes. "I tried knocking on the door, but I scared away some wanderers, so I had to change," he says to Kaito, casually and boredly. Then he laughs. "The Dragonborn is an assassin. Not too bad, you have the skills. I came here to visit you."
