As the sunlight trickled through fluttering curtains into a rather spacious and pleasant apartment, a young woman stirred in her sleep while the man next to her ran his fingers through her messy hair, she turning to face him with a gentle smile gracing her lips and her eyes then opening.

"Good morning, (Y/N)," Jeffrey—her boyfriend—whispered as he placed a feather-like kiss against her temple.

She giggled as kisses ran down her jaw until it ended in a sweet, slow kiss of his lips on hers. Giving each other a smile when the moment ended, they then tossed the sheets off of their figures and stood up, bare feet hitting the wood floor.

Crossing the room to the bathroom, (Y/N) closed the door behind her before stripping off her clothing and stepping into the rock-lined shower, smoothing her hair back and cupping her hands behind her neck as she let the warm droplets caress her skin. Just as the steam started to cross the mirror, she stepped out and wrapped a towel around her figure, opening the door to rummage through her closet for some clothes.

Picking out a black tee and some ripped jeans, she then entered the kitchen, sitting down at one of the island's stool and leaning her elbows on the granite while she watched her boyfriend cook her some breakfast, starting to drool as he placed a steaming plate of her favorite breakfast in front of her. They both scarfed down their food while chatting about their day—both excited for their second year of college—until a loud knock resounded through the cozy space and interrupted them.

"I got it," Jeffrey said as he cleared his plate and walked to the entrance.

Unlocking the door and peering outside to find no one, he was about to step back inside when a flash of white along the carpeted floor caught his attention. Furrowing his brows, he picked up the small envelope and basket, looking around once more to see if anyone was there before closing the door. Flipping the card over, he frowned when seeing his girlfriend's name written across the surface.

"Hey, baby, I think someone left this for you," he called out.

"Okay, set it on the counter! We need to go now or we're going to be late!" (Y/N) replied as she ran into the room pulling a hoodie on.

The two each grabbed their keys and locked the door behind them, quickly heading down the three flights of stairs to Jeffrey's beat up black corvette. Even though they were currently driving to school early—the drive in total only being ten minutes—they knew that the building would be packed since it was the first day, already (Y/N) feeling her nerves buzz in excitement.

"Babe, it's gonna be like every other first day," Jeffrey stated with a grin as he squeezed her thigh in comfort. "This is already our second year of college!"

"I know, but I can't help it," she smiled questioned as they pulled up, slinging her backpack over her shoulder.

He nodded as shut his door before walking with her toward the front entrance, the familiar colors of black and gold crisscrossing through the tiles of the floor with many pairs of feet walking across it. (Y/N) was able to tell that there were still a lot of familiar faces from previous years, but there was also a bunch of new ones due to freshmen coming in. Spotting some of her friends, she gave Jeffrey a quick peck on the cheek before excitedly hurrying over to her friends.

"Sam! Dalia!" She called out, watching as two people chatting by one of the stairwells looked over in her direction.

"(Y/N)!" Dalia yelled as she ran up to her friend, swinging her black braids tipped with turquoise over her shoulder. "I texted you like, a million times, and you barely answered. Where've you been?"

She shyly twiddled with her hair in response until Sam realized what was happening, her electric green eyes widening as she took a hold of her shoulder and excitedly asked, "Don't tell me you got a boyfriend?"

(Y/N) nodded in response before gesturing to Jeffrey who, in turn, gave a small wave and a charming smile that made all three of them sigh dreamily. Of course, this was only natural due to his slightly tanned skin, his hazel eyes, his dark curly hair that framed his face, and then the clothes that he wore that accentuated his athletic figure. He was truly a sight to behold, and his girlfriend wondered how she had managed to claim him.

And apparently she wasn't the only one.

"How did you manage to snag such a good looking guy?" Sam asked as she brushed her curly red hair out of her eyes before settling her hands on her hips.

(Y/N) shrugged, giving them an innocent smile.

"Don't give us that!" Dalia scoffed, eyebrows furrowing against her bronze skin. "We need to know every single detail."

"Well..." she began, tapping a finger against her chin. "We met over the summer at my job. I was working at a cafe, and he was a regular. We started talking one day and really hit it off."

"And....?" Sam questioned, gesturing with her hand for continuation.

"That's it."

"Wait... seriously?"

"Yep."

The two sighed, obviously disappointed by the lack of story, making (Y/N) laugh as she ushered them to class. The school day dragged on like normal, just as Jeffrey said, with nothing else much happening.

However, that was all before the girl arrived home, digging through her pocket for her keys so she could  unlock the apartment door, shrugging off her hoodie and backpack to then hang them up on a nearby rack before entering the kitchen for a little snack. Her gaze snagged on the little goodie basket from that morning that was brought in, eyes lighting up when noticing that it was filled with her favorites snacks and chocolates.

Pulling the note from the envelope, she grabbed a piece of candy and popped it in her mouth while she scanned the paper.

My dearest (Y/N),

I hope you enjoyed my gift. Of course, this is only the tip of the iceberg of my love for you. I wish to hold you in my arms and gaze upon you everyday. Alas, it can't always be that way. Until next time, my love.
