"Freak! You're a freak Lily and I'm telling mummy!"

Those words rang around in Lily's head as she laid curled up in her bed. The words hurt Lily. She wasn't a freak. She just had a talent that Tunney didn't. Petunia was just jealous. But Lily hated to think such things about her sister, especially calling her jealous.

Alas, it was true. Petunia Evans was jealous of her younger sister, Lily. Lily was always considered the beautiful daughter out of the Evans family. Long ginger hair, bright green eyes and freckles that dotted all over her face, while Petunia had brown eyes and hair, and a stone cold expression she had inherited from her grandmother. It was also the fact that Lily had powers. Petunia didn't. She'd kid herself the amount of times she's tried the spells she's heard Lily mutter under her breath, but of course, she'd be unsuccessful. It also annoyed her that Lily was going to boarding-school. Where she'd learn magic, meet boys and have the best friends ever, whereas Petunia would be stuck at normal school. Doing normal things such as maths and English. Everything Lily did was a constant reminder that Petunia Evans was normal and that nothing would ever be special about her.

Everything that happened all started because of Severus Snape. Petunia blames herself allowing her little sister near such a creature. Maybe, just maybe if she had stopped Lily from going near Snape, then she mightn't have powers.

"Your sister is just jealous." Severus Snape said, hissing at the word 'sister'. Lily sighed, picking at the grass. She didn't know what to think. Of course she knew her sister had to be some sort of jealous, but she didn't want to believe it.

"Don't be saying silly things Sev, it's not nice." Lily said softly, picking up one of the daisys from the ground and continuing on with her daisy chain. Severus scoffed. Lily turned and looked at him, raising an eyebrow. She could never understand why he hated her sister so much. Petunia was a kind, loving sister. What could you possibly hate about her?

"Lily," Severus said, grabbing Lily's hands so she could look at him. "Your sister isn't like us. She's not powerful, she'll never understand!" He said, trying to persuade Lily to believe him. She shook her head and pulled her hands back. She jumped up and pulled her dress down and marched off, upset by what Severus had said. His calls and shouts could be heard from him, wanting Lily to come back, but she ignored him.

Lily was hurt and upset. Severus could always be so rude and for what reason? She knew he never meant it on purpose, as he was one of the nicest boys from Spinners End, but if he had an attitude like that then she'd have to no longer be his friend.

The path that Lily had taken was her favourite. She'd always go down this way when she wanted some time to herself and to properly think. It was full of twist and turns, and it was beautiful. The grass always seemed to be greener and the sun always shined, making the flowers blossom. It was the only nice part of the town that Lily lived in. Everywhere else was grey, dark and miserable, and Lily was so excited to go to Hogwarts. To finally be able to see real colours instead of a monotone grey. For finally life and joy to be with her in her life.

Petunia sat scribbling away when Lily came knocking on her door. Quickly, before her younger sister could see, she crumpled up the paper and hid it under her pillow.

"What do you want freak?" She spat, pain and envy almost voicing out as she spoke. Lily flinched as the word 'freak' was spat back at her, once again.

"Severus was right, you are jealous." Lily whispered, tears filling her eyes.

"Ugh, not you hanging out with that greasy boy. I told you to stay away from him!" Petunia shouted, jabbing her finger into Lily's shoulder. She let out a yelp of pain. Never had her sister ever laid a finger like that on Lily. She was now even more upset that her sister had attempted to hit her.

"He's not a greasy boy, he's nice and caring, unlike you! You're supposed to be my big sister," Lily cried, tears pouring down her face. "I saw that letter you wrote to my headmaster, begging him to let you join." Lily whispered, barely audible to even hear. But Petunia did. And she felt sick to her stomach. She had never meant for Lily to find out, for anyone to find out. She felt like she'd rather die of embarrassment than let her sister walk all over her like this, pulling out vulnerable information.

"No I didn't. You're lying!" Petunia yelled, panicking. But Lily shook her head. In her hand held a letter that Dumbledore had written back to her.
