Things are going to get bad.Things are going to get bad? As if they aren't already bad at this moment.
I trudge along the muddy ground, staring at my feet as I step in Harry's bigger footprints, angrily thinking to myself.Harry didn't say anything else after that. Two hours had passed and somehow the people here let inexperienced people go on hunts. That means me.
"We're here," Niall says to me and I lift my head up and look at the wide, tall gates that are the only entrance and only exit of this place. There are two long towers on either side of the double doors. One man in each building, wearing all black and looking miserable as hell. I'm guessing they operate when the doors open and close from there.
We stand in the mud and light drizzle softly falling down from the surrounding clouds in the colourless sky and wait for the loud noise of the mechanical doors to grind to a halt so we can walk out of this town and into what's left of the world. Which is almost nothing.
I fasten my pace and stand next to Harry who's leading the group at a rapid pace, almost running as the rest of us follow, with knives and guns strapped to almost every part of our body. Okay that's an exaggeration, we have a small pistol each and a knife to use. It doesn't seem like enough but when you're being attacked I guess every thing that you can use as a weapon counts.
We make our way past the field outside of our base and into the deserted town, immediately splitting up and finding convenience stores.

Jacinta and I lost track of time after four hours but decided that we should find others and get out of this ghost town. We met the group at the entrance of the gate, holding one bag filled with some medicine, a few Panadol pills and such; we found a pharmacy. I look around to see everyone had to little to carry back to base.
We start heading back on Harrys instructions and we're just making our way into the field when someone stops in front of me.
"Did you hear that?!" He whispers to Harry, looking around nervously and holding out his gun, "They're here!"
"What're you talking about? I didn't hear anyth-" Harry stops, looking past our group of people and everyone follows suit. Jacinta and I have to move around the group to be able to see what everyone else is gaping at. I see it.
Distant figures of people walking slowly towards us. Heaps of them.
I look to Harry, starting to panic and he walks up to me, holding my hand tightly."Everyone back to base, now!" Harry yells and everyone starts running expect Harry and I, Jacinta and a few other people who give harry a look as if to say 'We'll fight with you.'
"There are too many," Jacinta says, observing the zombies who are getting closer by the minute.
"We should run," someone who stayed behind says, obviously going back on his decision.
"Harry!" Someone yells from behind us, we look to see Niall, "Everyone hurry! They're closing the gates!"
Harry looks mortified and starts running and we follow. It doesn't seem surprising that they'd leave us outside.
Niall runs back inside and waits at the gates as they begin to close, theres about eight metres between us and the gate and it's moving quicker than it ever has to close and lock us out to fend for ourselves with the disgusting creatures."HURRY!" Niall yells and everyone who was on the hunt with us behind him stop and watch, looking gravely at us. The doors are closing quickly and I catch eyes with Niall as I keep running. He shakes his head a little as if deciding something. The best thing he does makes me slow down a little. Niall runs out of the comfort of behind the gates and two seconds after they close behind him.
"Damnit!" Harry yells loudly out of breath, the veins at his neck popping out. I look at Jacinta and she looks like she's about to pass out. I walk to her and rub her back as she breaths in and out heavily, trying to catch her breath for a second.
"It's not safe here, we need to find a way inside," Niall says, looking behind us and then averting his eyes.
"What way in?! There's no other way in Niall! We're fucked," Harry yells and Niall gives him a bit of a glare. For what I'm not quite sure.
"Let's at least try." Niall spits and Harry rolls his eyes, Niall sees him and raises his eyebrows, "Fine while you stay here being a dick, I'll look around the gates for an entrance." Niall walks off and Jacinta follows him, so I do too. Harry sighs.
"Stay here in case the gates open," he says to the group of people and we begin our journey around the place we call home, though for me it doesn't feel anything close to being a home.
Walking. Mud. Tripping over. Staring at Harry. Mud.
"There's nothing here, we're wasting our time." Niall calls out from the back of the group. Everyone huddles in a circle but something off catches my eye and I walk towards it, ignoring the others calls.
I look at it. The small square crack in the cement wall. And I feel around the edges of it, feeling a presence next to me, I look up to see Jacinta who looks twice as curious.
"We don't have time for this girls! They're coming!" Niall yells and I look back to see him frantically pacing around until Harry stops him.
"What about the others?" Harry says, "We have to warn them-
"The others are already gone." Niall says and silence falls over us as I look back to the only crack in the wall. I bend down and place a hand on the cold middle of it, pushing. Why? I don't know. It felt like instincts leading me to.
Then something happens. The square crack in the cement; it moves.
