Twin flames sit 3 feet apart in a dimly lit room, the air heavy between them. Each with same thought on their minds, but neither makes an effort to address it. Awkward small talk is the only thing that breaks the tranquility in the room. Even then, the atmosphere stays dry.

Hideyoshi coughs quietly, his arm moving up to the curves of his lips. She takes a moment to scan his figure while he isn't watching. With the way his arm was bent in an awkward position, the fabric of his boldly colored kimono clung to the muscles like clingwrap. Her eyes drifted away as soon as it moves back down, a light pink tint now coloring her cheeks. As he looks up, his eyes soften as his cheeks raise in their usual wholesome way. A smile forms that makes her heart lurch out of her body.

But she is in no position to think such things. They know that there is a home she must return to, a family to see again, and a different life to restore five hundred years from now. Something like such cannot be thrown away for a single possibility.

Let alone in such dangerous times-

Hideyoshi, who is also painfully aware of this fact, tries his best to fill the silence in the room. He finds it extremely hard to believe that she's leaving tomorrow, it was only nights before that she shun the light on the situation. Inner logic after observing her actions made it no surprise.

The woman he loves is going home, a place where she is safe and happy. A place without the constant worry of being killed in a war or any other conflict. A future society he can't even comprehend because it's so advanced. Although, in the very back of Hideyoshi's mind is a selfish desire. Reminding him of it's presence every time she does something that makes his chest tighten- Which seems like everything anymore.

What if she stayed here, with him?

His nose scrunches at the thought in disgust. He despises the way he feels. Why does the one person he could ever dream of being with have to be so close, yet so far? Over the last three months he grew to know and love her as a person. His heart is torn in two. But he must go on and make her last day here the best.

Hideyoshi stands, getting out of his spot on the floor. "How about we go into town and get you something to remember this place by?" He puts on a fake smile, gazing down at her sitting figure.

She sharply inhales, her eyes cascading to the floor. She doesn't need anything to remember the Sengoku. Not when she knows him, a person who no other could ever compare to. Snapping back into reality from her own thoughts, she stands as well. "That sounds good." She pauses, smiling meekly. "Thank you for everything, Hideyoshi. Really."

"It was my pleasure."

He helps her bundle up for the chilly weather, his fingertips grazing her neck ever so lightly. She quietly wonders if he did it on purpose. If he loves her the way she loves him. What he would say if she brought up staying in the Sengoku? To be with him, grow old together, maybe even have children..

She looks up at his cheerful smile, causing her heart to break more. Was he not sad about her leaving? She always had the perpetuating thought that there was something between them besides the bond of a close friendship.

His hand reaches out, patting her head gently. A small gesture he's always done with her. At first, she hated it; she felt small compared to him when he did. But now, she craves more- Wishing each time it could just last a little longer. It was his constant physical displays of affection like these that make her wonder his true intentions. Although, he never went farther than the signature pat. She bites her bottom lip, teeth sinking into the soft flesh. And before she even registered what she was about to say it had already started slipping out.

"Can you please just hug me?" Her eyes peer into his own with desperation, her cheeks reddening more as he stares in shock. Seconds feel like minutes, and just as she's about to apologize and take it back, arms begin to wrap under her own, his body incasing hers.

A million thoughts run through his mind as he holds her tight. Scared his composure may crack, he frowns, lips pursing together. He feels her relax, and his mind goes fuzzy. He never would have imagined feeling the loss of someone before they're even gone, and how painful it is.

She gazes up at him longingly, every hidden emotion suddenly surfacing as a stray tear glides down her cheek. A tear that is lightly wiped away by the pad of Hideyoshi's thumb. Her hands that were sitting at the back of his head move to his face, brushing his fluffy locks of hair of his his forehead.

"Why are you crying?"

She shakes her head, pressing it against his exposed chest. "I'm going to really miss you."

Hideyoshi brings her chin up with his hand, gazing upon her radiance. Even when she's crying she's beautiful. "I'm going to miss you too, MC." Truth being, he had already started to.

He feels his heart beat in his chest as her hands massage his scalp, his body slowly begins leaning down. He has never seen her face this close, but wishes he had long ago. Her head tilts to the side and her hands stop moving as they come closer, no longer fully in control of their actions.

Their lips meet together with more passion than he's ever felt. She breaths in his scent, making the kiss deeper as they come closer together. He tastes sweet, like fresh strawberries; extremely addictive strawberries. With hands traveling up her waist, she brings him back to the spot they sat at only moments ago. No words are said about how they feel, their actions do that for them as things continue. A quiet squeal relieves the tension as he hoists her up into his lap, clothes slipped away just beneath of her beautiful shoulders. It brings a moment of rationality to both of them as they each gasp for air.

He swallows, throat suddenly going bone dry. He knew he had just made a terrible mistake, but when her hands begin to run up his chest, it does horrible things to his imagination. She leans forward, hands moving to his neck and through his hair.

Just what he swears to be just this one day, he indulges in more than just a simple head pat.

She wakes up the next morning in the same embrace, Hideyoshi already being awake and watching her with a look in his eyes that makes her heart melt. Her fingers draw small patters along his bare chest. Glimpses of last night fill her mind. She remembers how he made her feel while he grazed his hands upon her every curve, and makes an important decision.

"I'm staying." Two words that meant more than a thousand. Hideyoshi's eyes widen as he looks at her.

"Are you sure you want to give that up? To stay here forever regardless of what happens? To leave your home and-" His words are put to a halt as she presses a single finger to his lips.

She smiles a him gently, moving her hand to stroke his cheek gently. "I'm staying because I love you, and I know you feel the same way. I want to be with you, here, forever."

It was his turn to become flustered as he hardly meets her eyes. He takes her by the wrist, moving her arm to his chest quietly. "I need you to know what you're getting in to. I'm a busy man serving Lord Nobunaga, you're not as safe here. You will live and die in a place filled with merciless war. Do you want that life? Please think about it for a moment."

MC hugs him gently, resting her head in the crook of his neck. Her mind is already made up, and she giggles into his ear. "Only you would tell a girl who loves you more than life itself to rethink her decision about you. I'm staying, and I'm aware of the risks."

He smiles gently, pressing a kiss to her head. "Then I shall live life serving and making sure you are always happy here, with me."

And that, he did.
