Shawn couldn't help but be on slight alert the morning after Jeff and the others came back. Not only was Heather back in the picture, but there was also the slight chance someone would spill about their little get-together. After all, they'd never had so many of the other counselors sneak away with them in one night before.

Luckily, Jeff didn't suspect anything. Shawn decided to let Jonah and Amber off with a warning this time. He didn't want to have to explain to anyone what they were being punished for, and honestly, it would be hypocritical to make a big deal about it.

As long as they didn't steal his keys again or get him in trouble, they could do whatever they wanted, and he'd turn a blind eye. Hell, maybe Amber was even good for Jonah.

Shawn watched them now, leaning against the fence of the kickball field behind the plate. Amber was on second base, where Jonah stood. They were of course on opposing sides, but Shawn swore he saw Jonah cheer when she kicked a pitch and was able to make it all the way to second. He could see them whispering now.

Despite the game's growing excitement—the teams were tied and the stakes were high for another patch—Shawn let his mind wander. And his eyes. They naturally drifted towards her.

Camila was in the outfield again. He could see her gently coaching Joshua on how to stand when the ball was kicked his way. She seemed to have the same patience now that she always had with him. He felt himself smiling as he watched her.

Her.

God, it was still hitting him every day how crazy this was, that she was here.

He always thought of her as his dream girl, even as he got older and knew it was mostly nostalgia talking.

But it wasn't really all nostalgia, because she really had been like a dream. Beautiful, smart, funny, strong, and she never gave him more hell than he could take. He was a sensitive kid back then.

She could have been different.

A decade could have changed her into a thousand different people, and he always knew that every time he thought about her. Not only did he never think he'd see her again, but even if he did, there was a chance they wouldn't even get along.

But not only did he miraculously find her again, but she did change, and only to be more perfect.

And he was starting to realize he'd always been in love with her.

She caught his eye now and he smiled at her, feeling his heart race just slightly. Even from far away, he saw her blush and turn away. Jeff had already yelled at them once to stop making eyes at each other and focus on the game.

"This is kids' kickball, Jeff, not the Olympics." Shawn had said, and of course, Camila had laughed.

Despite giving them their own version of hell about it, Shawn knew Jeff was happy for them. Shawn wouldn't even put it past him to have seen this coming before they did. After all, Shawn hadn't even known she was coming until he saw her.

Of course, he had to be all covered in sauce and sweat when it happened, while she looked like an angel. He remembered freezing... and staring. She was so beautiful, no longer with the glasses and frizzy hair that could only be tamed by braids. But she was the same too, because she smiled the same. And she'd even called him by that same nickname.

"Oh!"

Shawn forced his mind back on the game as Skye kicked the ball and took off towards first base. He eyed second as Amber ran, passing third as Ryan still scrambled for the ball in the outfield.
