KITANA:
A boy walked through the marching dead corpses, a boy who's dark skin almost glowed in the sunlight, who's dark eyes, looked, looked, scary. He held up a hand, and the dead stopped their walking. He stared into my face, into my eyes, and smiled. "Ah, so you are my sister hmm?" "Say the fuck what?" Snapped Camille. "When I came into my powers, or, indigoism, as you people call it, I could sense, another had power like mine." "Say the fuck what?" Asked Camille again. "But I had no idea that my dear sister would ever come out looking for me—"Say the fuck what—"Does she ever stop?" He asked, finally looking annoyed. "She's very repetitive." "Actually I prefer annoying, or for a bigger word, vexing, yeah I like that one." "Who are you?" I asked, a hand on my fan. "My name is Deimos. And, I'm the other, child of Death. And my gifts, it seems are a lot more fun than yours." "This is madness, absolute horror." I said, waving a hand at the dozens of dead standing. "Oh I know isn't it though, it's gorgeous." Said Deimos.
"Kitana, if you were to have a sibling, why couldn't it be like Diana, or not someone who seems to enjoy it." Said Briella, her claws shooting out. "Hmm, a cat shifter, never seen one of you before." "I'll be the last thing you see fucker." "By all means, try to kill me." Said Deimos. "Wait," I said, putting a hand on Briella's arm. "This is my fight Briella, I have to kill him." I nodded at the army of dead corpses, all still standing. "I have to do this, and the dead." "Oh yes sister please do, just as the drama unfolds." I stepped toward him, drawing my fans as I moved. "You and me Deimos, here, now, no undead helping you, and none of my indigo to help me." "Uh-huh, Kitana let me just say something here." I turned to face Audrey. "You don't have to do this alone girl, we can all face him together, besides, something tells me he wants you to fight him, he wants you to try to kill him." "I know, but this way, no one else gets hurt, and no one else dies and has to join his army, just him, and I. Doing the dance of death."THIRD PERSON:
Kitana stepped away from Audrey and the others just as Deimos stepped away from his undead army, who stood silent and still. Beyond their ranks, more and more dead corpses stood in silence, their faces blank, their bodies in myriad signs of torture. Towns upon towns of corpses lay in wait behind Deimos, Hundreds of corpses just waiting to be brought into the open. Deimos smiled, and there was no warmth in the expression, no humor. As if he learned by watching a tutorial on how to smile, but couldn't quite do it. He drew a plain looking sword from a sheath and it glistened in the sunlight.
"Any words?" "Words?" Kitana asked. "I mean come on, we're brother and sister, we should at least have a conversation before I kill you." Kitana opened her mouth, ready to dismiss the idea and just attack, just kill him and be done with it. But she paused, remembering that knowledge, was a more powerful weapon than anything. "Fine, we can talk, Deimos. Who are you exactly, and where did you come from, and why, why this?" "Ah dear sister my dearest sister I'm so glad you asked." Deimos smirked and stroked his short curly hair. "Why you see, it's a fascinating tale." "Uh-huh, sure it is." Murmured Audrey.
Deimos smirked again and said, "You see, I came from a small little town in the mountains. Quite like this one. Out of the way, everyone knew everyone else. But I was apparently, different, too, different. I could feel things growing up sister, things I'm sure you felt. Though I grew to be fascinated by those things. The sight of a deer dying by a person's hands. Cleaning the carcass afterward, cooking it. THe hunt was a beautiful thing." "Repulsive." Said Camille. "Deplorably repulsive." "It grew over time, this need to see more of it, to be the cause of it. I realized that I quite enjoyed hunting after that, but not just the killing, trapping the prey, making it fall into my traps. Finally it took my town several months, but they started to take notice, to, worry." Deimos laughed a deep cold laugh that made the hairs on Kitana's neck rise.
"It didn't take as long as I thought it would to learn just how to have the hunt, with, people. I'd take the townspeople I didn't like, take them on the hunt with me, willing, or, not. THough at first it was all fun and games, till they realized, they, were a part of the dinner menu." "Ok, that's fucking disgusting." Said Audrey, wrinkling her nose." "Oh they never truly were on the menu, just members of my, little gang." Said Deimos. "And so, it went on, took them even longer to truly realize who was behind all the disappearances. And that, gave me the chance to really figure out my new found powers. To kill with just a touch, and command the dead if I so wish. It grew to be a sport of mine, a game, to see how many dead I could collect from these small forgotten towns before anyone could truly stop me." Deimos threw his head back and laughed. "And look at just how long it took before the indigo caught wind of me, the famed indigo no less. Kitana, the original child of Death, the Lieutenant of Death. The only one rumor had it, who could bring people back from the dead." Deimos smirked. "Something I can't even do." His eyes darkened in that moment. "But who needs that, when you can command the dead, so many dead, animals, people, well, actually, people are animals so that's kinda moot right?"
Kitana's heart was racing as she learned more and more about this boy, this male who seemed to have been born with Death's powers, as more of a curse than a gift. Kitana tried to think of any of the brief encounters with Death, with Thanatos she had, and see if he had warned her about something like this. Tried to think if Huntor had done the same. But the only thing was that, "No two symbols are the same." Which couldn't exactly help her now. "And so, that's my story my beloved sister. I moved from town to town, creeping in like the plague, slaughtering the old and the forgotten first, taking my control from within the shadows, then, taking the bigger prey." "Why?" Kitana asked. "Because I can, because it's fun, because people need to realize that what they do to others will be punished cruelly, and, without mercy, for an eternity. Why not have them get a jump on that now hmm?" "But you have children in your supposed army, what did children ever do?" Deimos's smile was frozen, without any mercy or humor.
"Just because their children they deserve to be given mercy? No one is ever innocent of anything don't you know that? Death doesn't turn a blind eye because a child is young in years. Death judges everyone the same way. Children die too. Five year olds die because they play too roughly and get hurt too badly. Two year olds die because they couldn't breathe for a certain period of time and their parents couldn't help them or didn't care enough to. Babies die because they simply die. Teenagers die because they fight or do something they think is cool and end up getting too hurt because of it." Deimos shrugged. "Death doesn't stop for children, of any age. Death comes for all, so, I come for all." "That, is truly horrifying, no one wants to see you having sex." Said Camille. Deimos scowled. "That one is seriously getting on my nerves." "Join the club." Said Briella and Audrey together.
Deimos smiled at me. "So, is this the point where you try to stop me? Say something like you know you can? That you have the better end of the deal?" In answer, I held up my fans. Deimos laughed that deep cold laugh again. "Please sister you don't get it do you, you can't kill me, you can't. You can't kill me, or my army, my dead are already dead, none of your little tricks could possibly have an effect on them. So they won't on me." "Only one way to find out." Said Kitana, prowling closer. "Oh but you'd dare hurt your baby brother? Especially after loosing your sister, what was her name again? Oh right, Diana?" "Well fucking shit." Said Audrey and Camille together. Kitana froze, her hands still raised, Fans ready for the fight. But her face, her face blanked out, and for a moment, true agonized pain was written clear as the sunlight overhead. Kitana fell to her knees, her breath coming out in a whoosh as for several seconds, she seemed to not be able to catch her breath. Deimos laughed again, laughed at her pain, at her agony, her loss. Then, she rolled through the ground, and attacked.
Deimos moved with the motion, and her left fan barely missed his face as he dodged. The fan flew, and with telekinesis, whipped back around to stab into his back. He bowed and the fan again, barely missed him. She grabbed it and threw herself through the air at him. Deimos smiled at the pure animalistic rage in her eyes. THe wolf that he'd awoken. They clashed together, his sword with her fans. Kitana spun and a vicious kick lashed out, barely missing Deimos's face. He returned with a sweeping slash to her legs she just barely managed to jump over. Deimos lashed out again, his slashes so fast, yet Kitana kept up with each and every one of them. She landed and sprung over his head, lashing down with her fan, only to bring a fist behind it. Deimos moved aside, dodging both blows. Suddenly, Kitana was reminded of Huntor, sitting in his office, with, Diana, talking about their powers, what they could do, and just how important they both were. Kitana remembered how serious he was, how he tried to make her see that her powers weren't to be taken lightly, and that she had a major part to play. In everything, not just the keeper wars.
She slashed and in mid stroke, her fan spun out of her hand and returned to it's sheath. As it's twin followed suit, death swords elongated in her grasp. Two Katana swords. Deimos grinned malevolently. "You can't kill me sister, you don't have the power, Death didn't bless you with it and we all know it." She swung, lashing out and Deimos moved aside, their battle resuming in full force. Something popped into Audrey's mind though, something that Deimos had said. "You can't kill me, you don't have the power." The same idea, popped into Briella's mind too. As they watched, they both could see that Kitana and Deimos were evenly matched. Neither of them had drawn blood, and they both were fighting to kill. Deimos seemed to dodge her strokes just a millisecond before they'd land, just as she would dodge his just before they'd strike her down. Briella opened her mouth, but shook her head. The prophecy slid through her mind, and something told her, that Kitana, would, figure, it, out.
Deimos rolled as Kitana's swords came down, barely missing his throat. He dodged as her foot came through and lashed for his gut. He paused, staring at her as he breathed heavily, the strain of battle evident on her face as well as his own. "Interesting, don't you think my dear sister? That though we're both aiming to kill, neither of us landed a blow yet, not even one that draws the smallest bit of blood. Interesting, we could possibly do this dance forever don't you think?" "Too bad we aren't going to." She said, advancing. "Oh I think we are, look at the reality sister, you can't kill me, and so it sadly seems, I can't kill you." Kitana paused, mouthing the words. "You can't kill me." Suddenly, realization dawned in her eyes. Deimos read it and laughed, misunderstanding. Kitana sheathed her death swords, shocking Deimos. "You're right, I can't kill you, and I won't." Kitana felt everything in her shift as she turned her back on Deimos, and walked toward the others. "But someone else will." Behind her, Deimos laughed his loudest, coldest laugh. As their dance of death, was put at an impasse.
