After Valencia and Maythus returned to Gallomia, she decided to go back home and get some rest. Her limbs still felt heavy from last night's healing, and topped with the sorrow from leaving behind Mom, all she wanted to do was go to sleep.
The trek up the mountain felt even longer than it usually did, and by the time Valencia reached her house, her legs were burning and her lungs were screaming for her to stop. She pushed open the door, tripping over her feet in fatigue and falling to the floor.
On the ground in front of her was a package, clearly containing something.
Valencia blinked, pushing away her desire for sleep, and tore open the envelope. A letter flew out, along with a few vials of the cure to the Ashes.
Dearest V, the letter read. At midnight in five days, meet me at the border of the kingdom. You'll be needing these.
Valencia didn't even need to read the end of the letter to know that it was from Ronan. She gulped down a knot of guilt, carefully picking up the vials. Why would she be needing them? Would she be doing Shadow Manipulation?
It didn't matter—whether she liked it or not, in a few days, her work with Ronan would begin.
