teardrops dried
on red sweater sleeves,
my barbaric mind
wanted nothing but to leave.
the air shifted
the second that you left,
it was never clear,
but with you it was fresh.though we were strangers
who were familiar years before,
all i hoped then
was that my mind be restored.
i hated forgetting,
yet it was all i could do,
and i've got a stubborn wall
even i can't get through.i'd damned myself to hell
before i even the knew the place,
threw my solaces at the furnace
and watched it quiver in flames.
my head's a bloody war zone
to erupt in glorious bombs,
ready to destroy itself
and be lain in my cold palms.in my veins ran rain
from the clouds resting in my eyes,
for surrounding my fretting head
were dark, lightning-threaded skies.
and the thunder would boom
and echo within my bones,
but it stilled in mighty silence
when with me you were alone.caramel and honey
was the taste of your glee
butterflies flit in air
whenever you looked at me.
my crystals turned to flowers
and my home became a meadow,
succulent grass were swaying
instead of my own shadow.but as i saw the interest
dancing gracefully in your smile,
i knew that if i'd play with you
you'd see i wasn't worthwhile.
so you left with let down hopes,
just as i had expected;
i was a coward and a fool
whose own misery inflicted.much to my surprise
this wasn't our very end,
and i couldn't fathom
why you'd keep being my friend.
in my mind you were a fallen soldier
in my battlefield,
but you contined as my ally
though your wound was unconcealed.luke
