I wake up to my alarm clock, ready to put on a show. Wondering, how will this day go? Why out of all days does the race have to be today? The days may be hot, but that's not going to make me stop. Running without a care with the wind blowing through my hair. Standing at the start line with people I consider family, I bow my head, close my eyes, saying a prayer. Being able to run is an accomplishment. The best award I've ever gotten. Take away my ability, what would be left of me? My tennis shoes keep me going. Also keeping me going to write this beautiful poem. Running with people I love, running with people I trust, I couldn't ask for more.
I learned a lot every day, putting my hesitations away. Look ahead. What's that? It's the finish line! Running side by side with a person on another team, hearing their coach yell, "There's a Raider on your tail!" I speed up, leaving them behind, with no time to say goodbye. Hearing your team and family encouraging you is more fueling than anything you could eat before you run. They keep you going, they know how you're doing. Looking to set a P.R, knowing that the end isn't far.
The days are hot, but that's not going to make me stop. Running without a care with the wind blowing through my hair. .You've worked so hard for this. We all deserve this. If I collapse, at least I'll know I wasn't last. But, finishing the race as a team is the best thing I've ever seen.
