Episode 7 Part 2 ~ Riposte

Y/N's POV

Y/N: That's the logo!

Adrien stops, and taps on the logo of the Japanese girl's ring.

Adrien: (reads)Kagami Tsurugi. She's the only daughter belonging to a family of prestigious fencers. Her mother and grandfather were both world champions. I've read about them before! She and her mother just moved to Paris! How incredible!

Y/N: You're saying that I just went against a professional fencer?!

Adrien: (nonchalantly)Pretty much.

Suddenly, the car split into half, causing Adrien's bodyguard to spin forward. The forces took over as both Adrien and I are launched onto the road ahead.

Rolling onto my feet, I looked up to see Kagami... but akumatized.

Riposte: I'm taking you up on your offer of a decisive match!

Y/N: This won't be a fair one in your conditions! You're not yourself!

Riposte: (assumes a stance)Fight!

Before she could attack, Hawkmoth's telepathic link appears around the girl's eyes.

Y/N: (to Adrien)We have to get out of here... fast...!

Adrien nods as we start to back away, not before she notices and blocks our way.

Riposte: Where do you think you're going? Stay there. Nice and patiently.

Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted Ladybug coming from the rooftops. Soon, Ladybug throws her yo-yo at Kagami and wraps it around Kagami's blade.

Ladybug: How'd you like to start a duel with me?

She then tugs on her yo-yo to disarm her, only for it to slip off.

Ladybug: It's merged with her hand.

'I have to get Adrien away so he can transform...'

Suddenly, Kagami strikes at us. Luckily dodging in time, Kagami only cut a poster in half.

Y/N: Ladybug! Take Adrien away! Please!

Ladybug: But she's after you!

Y/N: I know! (standing in front of Kagami)Kagami! I'll have this match right here and now!

Riposte: Perfect!

She assumes her fighting stance, as I slowly did as well. Looking behind me, Ladybug and Adrien were nowhere in sight.

'Good... first step done... now! To stall until they get here.'

Y/N: En gar --

Riposte: Oh, cut the crap, Y/N!

Lunging at me with great speed, all I could do for now was dodge and run away. Kagami's saber was no match for her akumatized weapon.

Riposte: This wasn't the decisive match I was looking for Y/N!

Y/N: Neither was I! You're not yourself!

Riposte: I'll do anything it takes to stand at the top.

Noticing her determination to win spiked, I did the same. For the nth time, she lunged at me. Successfully weaving away from her strike, she strikes at me again for only her to fail again.

It repeated until something hit me. Falling to the ground, I held my ankle in pain.

Riposte: (sneers down at Y/N)Looks like I win, Y/N! And it's time for the finale!

Before she could finish me off, an all too familiar hits her blade, catching Kagami off guard.

"Not so fast!"

Ladybug lands in front of me, followed by Chat Noir who lands next to me.

Chat Noir: (crouching next to Y/N, he notices the injury)Do you think you can stand?

Y/N: (still in pain)I can try...

Chat Noir: I'll help you up.

Wrapping my arm around his shoulder, I slowly get back up with some difficulty.

Chat Noir: Ladybug! I'll get Y/N far away from here!

Ladybug: Okay! I'll try holding Riposte off for as long as I can!

Chat Noir nods and extends his staff, retreating to the rooftops.

Away from Ladybug and Riposte

Chat Noir: Right here should be fine.

Situating me behind a chimney stack, I settle in and lean against it. Chat Noir peeks from the stack and calls someone.

If I'm not answering... you already know what's up. Try again later.

'That's my message... is he trying to call for me?'

Chat Noir: (mutters)C' mon, Arachnid... we need you! (turns to Y/N)How's your ankle?

Slowly twisting it around, I cringed in pain.

Y/N: (lies)It tickles...?

Chat Noir: (doesn't fall for it)Right...

Y/N: Chat Noir. You have to go back and help Ladybug. I'm sure Arachnid will swing by sooner or later.

Adrien turns to me with a questionable look.

Y/N: Chat Noir... even though Ladybug is strong, don't you think her teammate should aid her for a secure win?

Chat Noir: You're right... if I go now, it'll give us a better chance of catching the Akuma sooner. We just have to fend her off. Stay here, and don't move!

I nod as Chat Noir jumps off the roof and makes his way back to Kagami and Ladybug. At the same time, Itsy flies out.

Itsy: You know your ankle will act as a setback, right?

Y/N: But it also means that we can stop the threat. Itsy! Let's swing into action.

Limping off of the rooftop, I transform into Arachnid and web slung my way to Ladybug and Chat Noir.

Arachne: Y/N! You're injured!

Nhện: No shit he is...

'I'll be fine, Arachne. I just need to avoid using my right foot and I'll be fine. And it's been a while... what's happening?'

No one answers for a while until Jochigumo says something.

Jochigumo: I -- It's best... that we talk about this later, Y/N.

Growing concerned, I nodded and focused on making my way to Ladybug and Chat Noir. Bringing my watch to my face, I dialed Chat Noir.

Chat Noir: *Arachnid! Where have you been?!*

Y/N: Let's not worry about that, I took Y/N somewhere safe.

Chat Noir: *Y/N? How?*

Y/N: He called out to me when I was swinging around. Now... where are you guys?

Chat Noir: *The Louvre. But, Arachnid, before -- *

Cutting him off, I changed directions and speedily make my way to the Louvre.

'Hopefully, I'm not too late...'
