The remaining of the year had gone in a daze.
After Y/n had made up with Malfoy, things became easier with their little group, even tho Pansy was still on her quest for Draco, but everything else was fine.
Quidditch season was gone in the blink of an eye, Potter had gotten a brand new broom, a firebolt, and Draco had gotten it extremely hard to get any snitch before him, making Slytherin second once again for the cup. Either way, Y/n still enjoyed playing and the rush of adrenaline, it helped her release stress.
Their end of year exams arrived before she was ready to accept it, but she still managed to come into the top of the class, competing for second place between Slytherin, and fifth in the general ranks, Hermione on the lead and Draco just behind her.
The last weeks had been great. They spent a great deal of time hanging out in the courtyard and in the cool common room, just chatting and enjoying their time before summer break.
Y/n had made uncountable plans with Daphne to meet during the summer, knowing Daph would go on a trip with her family to France, but coming back at the begging of July. Zach had also made plans to visit over the summer, and had told her about getting tickets to the quidditch World Cup, he was the only one who knew, but Y/n had got tickets too, her mother was coming to go with her!

They said their final goodbyes, and went to meet with their respective families, Blaise and Y/n made their way to the carriage that would be taking them to the Manor. Aunt Zabini had been too caught up with things so she couldn't make it to pick them up.
They went in a comfortable silence, both too tired and sleepy from the warmth of the day and the length of the journey. They got home and with lazy greetings, made their way to their rooms and dozed off.

Some weeks into the holidays Y/n and Blaise had received an invivitation to the Malfoy Manor, it was for Draco's birthday. They knew he wasn't a fan of his bdays because usually everyone was traveling, but due to "family business" they couldn't travel this summer. They were the only ones going, as Daphne, Zach, Pansy, Crabbe and Goyle were all off around Europe traveling with their families, and Blaise and Y/n wouldn't be traveling until later that month.
It was rather simple, they spent the evening talking and playing cards. Not many knew it but Draco was not a man of major celebrations, he enjoyed his alone and private time, above great balls and parties.
After a while, Blaise was picked up by Ms Zabini because they had business at his place, so Y/n stayed with Draco until later. They had taken themselves into the garden to soak the warm breeze and lay on the perfect grass of the front of the manor, where some white peacocks wandered around. Their conversation had become increasingly deep, but somehow they had both managed to let themselves open up and talk without restrain.
"So wait, why didn't they marry?" Draco asked still gazing into the sky
There was a pause. "If you don't mind me asking, you don't have to answer" he added quickly."They were too young" I started. Not many people knew, I didn't tell everyone about my parents, it was a complicated story, bu something told her, Draco was worth telling.
"My mother was barely graduated and so was my dad, they were too young, and my dad was not ready to take the responsibility, so he ran for it. Mum was sad about it but my grandparents never let her alone, they were by her side and raised me..." I took a moment to continue.
"When I turned eleven he came back. It was very hard on us all, it took me 2 years to forgive him, but our relationship is still, complex" I went on
"I get what you mean" he added now laying his head on his palm as he looked at her.
Draco's POV
It was strange, like I found someone I could relate to, with parental issues and stuff. I never admired it, we had to keep up appearances, but father and I had also a bumpy relationship. He wasn't exactly warm and guiding, but rather impositive and distant, and just like her, mother was my comfort.
I kept listening intently, it was one of the best conversations I had ever had, because for the first time, someone understood.

Y/n's POV
After the Zabini's and Y/n were back from their trip to Italy, there was not a day when one of their friends wouldn't drop in or when they wouldn't be making a trip to visit one of their places.
Y/n mostly visited Daphne, they spent hours at a time talking about their travels and cute wizards they'd seen or met while on it.Draco had also taken it to visit once in a while, his parents were barely home lately so he stayed from dawn to dusk most times. It was pretty strange, but Y/n chose against asking him about it. She had actually enjoyed his visits a lot, and adored the fact that their conversations always seemed to go on without any dead end.
Blaise on the other hand, started to become more tense every time Draco came by, he kept asking why we weren't allowed to visit his Manor and why did his parents go for such long periods of time, and Draco kept evading answering or giving lame excuses. Y/n just assumed things at his place were complicated, but Blaise seemed to be suspicious of something much darker than just family issues. He kept it to himself and denied with all his might to Y/n from explaining...
